Where to find all Ash of War scarabs

The following Ashes of War all require you to find and quickly defeat a scarab often rolling a large, glinting ball before you can obtain them:

You'll need to be quick, as these scarabs will disappear into thin air if you take too long to defeat them. Don't worry if you miss one, though, as you can simply rest at a nearby Site of Grace and try again for another attempt. To make sure you get them first time round, read on below for a more detailed look at each scarab's location and where to find them:

Found north of the Site of Grace 'Temple Town Ruins' on the western side of the ravine in the Rauh Base area (alternatively, directly south of the Site of Grace 'Ravine North'), this scarab is located next to a crumbled building on a hill near a pool of brown liquid. It will start rolling its ball further up the hill, so make sure you catch it before it disappears.

Carian Sovereignty

Located in a small cave down the side of the cliff directly behind (and beneath) the Cathedral of Manus Metyr, you'll find this scarab nestled right in the centre of the ceiling of this otherwise empty nook.

Piercing Throw

Guarded by a handful of gargoyle enemies between the pillars on the approach to the Ruined Forge of Starfall Past in Scadu Altus, this scarab is very easy to miss. Watch out, as this scarab's ball will explode on defeat, so make sure you get some distance between it so you don't accidentally die in the process.

Raging Beast

Starting from the Site of Grace 'Bridge Leading to the Village', travel north east toward the cliff edge and away from the main road. This scarab sits in the middle of the first raised rock surface, and will teleport as soon as you approach. From experience, this scarab only teleports from place to place rather than disappearing altogether, and we had a fair amount of time to catch it while dealing with the packs of wolves stalking the woods alongside it. We found it best to use a long-range weapon to get this scarab, as getting up close with a melee weapon always proved to be too slow.

Scattershot Throw

Travelling north from the Site of Grace 'Ancient Ruins Base', you'll find this scarab on the apporach to Taylew's Ruined Forge in the Rauh Base region. There are two scarabs on this road - the first rewards you with a Somber Smithing Stone (7), but the second one holds the Ash of War: Scattershot Throw. You'll find it hanging on a broken pillar above the head of a powerful gargoyle monster with a large axe. Deal with the monster first before dislodging the scarab from its perch, otherwise you'll risk losing it in the mad dash for survival.

Rolling Sparks

Located just south of the Shadow Keep's Main Entrance, this sneaky scarab is hovering high up in the air above the eastern hill by the soldier encampment. You'll spot it coming out of Shadow Keep (as pictured above), and it's best to deal with all the perfumers in the area first, and then shooting at it from almost directly underneath it, as shooting it from further away will only make it much more likely to have disappeared by the time you run over to its location.
