Airline pilot gone birding. -

This used to be a site where I displayed nothing but my bird pictures. I eventually felt that it was a waste not to share other pictures I have. I have desided to add some scenic sets, some work related sets, some animals, and most recently some family/people photos and videos. For these you must be family or at least a "friend" to see. If you are, please register with flickr! The bulk of my pics will always be birds pics from around the world, if that bores you I am sorry.

Thanks to all visitors. 883,000 views on my photos to date..

2021. Forteen years of flickr uploads now. where will the next trip go?

2016. Started strong with a week in the east and central Andes near Bogota Colombia. Great trip! Can't wait to go back! Later a fantastic trip to the arctics in Norway. Ended the year with another trip to Colombia - this time the Santa Marta mountains and nearby areas.

2015; Many small trips this year. A few days both in Costa Rica and Jamaica, later a trip to the midwest. Ended the year with a 10 day trip to Ghana, West Africa in November. Saw 330 species of birds, but most were very hard to photograph.

2014; first full year in Massachusetts. Did a "big year" and ended up with 300 for the state. Took many pictures. One big foreign trip this year was my, turning 50 celebratory trip to Panama.

2013 . First real trip; 10 days in Spain. Great place to visit. Later visit; 8 days in Sri Lanka. Over 30 endemics, 100+ lifers and about 180 species total. Moved to Massachusetts in October - a lot of east-coast birds going forward I hope.

2012. January. Central Chile for two weeks! Fantastic. Later same year - Oaxaca, Mexico. In November; Lima, Peru for a quick intro to Peru. Fantastic, I'm going back there!

2011 is a busy year for me. Started a Big Year concentrating on Washington State and The US. Ended up giving up on the Washington effort, but got about 633 for US list. OK considering I worked full-time. The big year got a slight interruption in February when I visited Thailand for 10 days, but it was well worth it.

2010 Only real big birding trip abroad was New Zealand for 10 days and NSW, Australia for 3-4 days. Saw 108 species in NZ which sounds like a good single-day of birding anywhere in North America, but it is as good as it gets in NZ! In Australia I had very little new, but managed to photograph some birds that have eluded me in the past.

First international trip of 2009 was a success. I visited the United Arab Emirates for my fourth time. I was having a great time as always. My best friend Tommy and his lovely wife Maja were the best hosts as usual. My old, old friend Terje made the visit even more fun. We last birded together in 1985 and before that in 1978 when I was about 14.

Second outing was a success too. Went to Norway where I had a chance to visit the Runde Bird Island as well as birding my old stomping grounds in Oslo.

Paris, France was something new to me I don't often do the big city vacations. This was my first "real" visit to France, and it was great. Posted just a few touristy pictures.

Big trip of 2009, and the last one was Brazil. Spent two weeks in Minas Gerais and Sao Paulo states birding with Tommy and local (English) guide Rick Simpson. We has an incredible time spotting some 325 bird species as well as a wolf and a jaguarundi.

Recently I introduced a new piece of equipement to my arsenal; a GPS tracker. This is a small device the can track my position for up to a month. With a couple of mouse clicks I can geo-tag all the pictures I take. I love it!

Thanks for visiting!

Please feel free to leave meaningful comments or critique. If it's to harsh, I'll just delete you comment ;) Any comments are nice actually, but I hate those big "award" icons.
