Detail of outcome

This consultation has been overtaken by current policy and predates the current administration. Our approach to local government transparency was outlined in the Levelling Up White Paper where we announced the set up of a new body - the Office for Local Government - to drive transparency of local government performance. In line with this, we will be considering our approach to the Local government transparency code 2015, and will set this out in due course.

Consultation description

We are consulting on proposals to change the way that local authorities record details of their land and property assets, and publish information about their procurement, their contracts and the delivery of some of their services.

We are also proposing to include new requirements about information on parking charges and enforcement and about the way transparency data is published and presented.

Finally, we are proposing to include recommendations that local authorities publish information about their dealings with small and medium-sized enterprises.
