Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah: 5 players to make a comeback in IPL 2024

The 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will kick off on March 23 with a match between Chennai Super Kings and the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai.

Here is a look at some of the key players who will make a comeback in IPL this season.

Rishabh Pant

Current Team: Delhi Capitals

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant endured a car accident in December 2022 and underwent rehab and recovery for a long time. The National Cricket Academy (NCA) cleared Pant to take part in the IPL.

Jasprit Bumrah

Current Team: Mumbai Indians

Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah suffered a back stress injury due to which he was sidelined in IPL 2023. Delivering a remarkable performance in the Test series against England, Bumrah is set to make a fresh comeback in IPL 2024.

Mitchell Starc

Current Team: Kolkata Knight Riders

Australia's pacer Mitchell Starc will return to IPL 2024, after years of absence from the tournament. Starc became the most expensive player in the league during the auction.

Pat Cummins

Current Team: Sunrisers Hyderabad

Australian captain Pat Cummins withdrew from the IPL season in 2023 to focus on Australian cricket commitments. Cummins has been named the captain of the Sunrisers Hyderabad this year.

Shreyas Iyer

Current Team: Kolkata Knight Riders

Indian batter Shreyas Iyer was excluded from BCCI central contracts for reportedly prioritising IPL over domestic cricket. Iyer missed the last edition of IPL due to a back injury. He is set to turn up for IPL 2024 for the first time since 2022.
