Fulham make enquiry over Scott McTominay, Red Devils make position clear on sale

HITC understands that Fulham have enquired about one Manchester United star as a replacement for Joao Palhinha.

Bayern Munich are understood to have agreed a fee with Fulham for the transfer of Joao Palhinha with an offer of nearly £50 million accepted by the Cottagers.

This agreement comes after the German side had seen multiple offers rejected for the 28-year-old but there was always confidence from Bavaria than an agreement would eventually be struck for the former Sporting Lisbon midfielder.

Now that the said agreement has been reached, Fulham are looking for replacements and it appears they’ve potentially decided on who that could be.

Fulham make enquiry for Manchester United midfielder

Sources have told HITC that Marco Silva’s side have enquired about the availability of Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.

Fulham have been long-term admirers of McTominay, but now with Palhinha’s impending departure, they are looking at the the Scottish star again this summer.

McTominay has proven to be a vital figure for Erik ten Hag’s United as they reached the FA Cup final and eventually won the competition. The Scotsman opened the scoring during the frantic 4-3 win over Liverpool in the quarter-final.

The 27-year-old netted two late goals against Brentford which seemed to kick off his rich vein of goalscoring form and he went on to score 10 goals in all competitions and provide three assists for the Red Devils.

McTominay received praise from former United legend Lou Macari and was hailed as ‘exceptional’ when he spoke to MUTV.

HITC has been told that United are wiling to allow the homegrown star to leave, as they look to reboot their midfield with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen also likely departures from Old Trafford this summer.

McTominay is understood to have never been overly keen to leave Old Trafford and that is one of the questions Fulham will be asking, as will other suitors such as Sean Dyche’s Everton.

Fulham’s alternatives including Danish midfielder

As of yet, it is currently unclear if the 27-year-old would want to depart Old Trafford this summer and Fulham do have alternatives.

We reported that Fulham liked Brazilian midfielder Andre from Fluminense. As well as this, Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips and Sporting Lisbon’s Morten Hjulmand are also targets for the Cottagers.

HITC have reported that United were one of the sides that were keen on the Danish midfielder and watched him as Denmark drew 1-1 against England in the group stage which included an outrageous goal from the Sporting Lisbon star.
