Avengers Grimm: Time Wars (2018)
Some cheesy moments, but is still a bad movie
While I have some fun with it, it's still a bad movie. The story is unfocused and a complete mess with Magda the Mad wanting to marry the prince in order to rule something while a group of fairy tale character team up to stop her. They get sent back in time which nothing interesting happen and where they spend a lot of time. The pacing is really awful on how things happened pretty quickly and it feels like it rushing itself. The fight scenes are extremely bad with it happening quickly and the choreography is really bad. The characters themselves are nothing to write about because all of them are generic. I do like the performance of Rumpelstiltskin who gives off a overtop villain who is the only enjoyable character in the entire movie. Alice and Mad Hatter are fine, but don't appear that much in the movie. Red and Sleeping Beauty are just there to help out. Prince Charming spends a lot of time captured and his acting gets old quickly. Snow White is your standard badass female lead who isn't that memorable. And Magda the Mad plays your typical villain. The movie ends in a anticlimactic way.
Avengers Grimm: Time Wars has some cheesy moments, but has a ton of problems with it.
Amityville 1992: It's About Time (1992)
Bland Amityville horror movie in the franchise
I have little to say about this movie because I found it to be mostly bland for the most part. The story is weird with a possessed antique clock that cause an affect on a family. There are a couple of bizarre moments to be found in the movie, but they don't last that long. Most of the movie is what you expect from a supernatural movie with strange things happening to a family, mood changes, characters don't believing, and other thing you expect. I kind of wish the clock was build up more with it becoming more threating and violent throughout the movie. The characters are not that interesting and plays generic tropes. It's also have some stiff acting in it.
Amityville 1992: It's About Time is a bland movie that doesn't have anything too interesting or bizarre in it.
Twisters (2024)
Thrilling and fun disaster movie
I have fun watching this stand-alone sequel throughout. While the movie is similar to the first movie and begins similarly. I do like how things change up in the middle of the movie. The movie does a good job on building up the relationship between the characters on how they connected with each others and their problems they have. Just like the previous movie, it shows how the character have one goal throughout the movie and how she wants to help out the people in the town's to keep them safe. There is a lot of tornado scenes that are both suspenseful and intense with how much destruction it can cause and the amount of danger that they are in. And it shows how much damage it can cause to a big town and how the characters trying to prevent it. There also a couple of stupid things that some characters do that I think people will do in real life and each record it. I found the acting to be done really well by each of the actors who gives off a soild performance. The digital effects looks great on how the tornadoes look so real and the practical effects that is done to the destroyed town. And the climax itself is suspenseful and enjoyable to watch.
Twisters is a thrilling movie that I would watch again and is worth seeing.
RoboCop 3 (1993)
Cheesy moments, but a disappointing way to end the series
I can see why this is the weakest in the franchise, but it's not a bad movie that I watched. The story is RoboCop decides to join forces with Rehabs to protect them from the new evil OCP who wants to build a new delta city into this place. It's your usual stuff with greedy people wanting to build a new place over the city while kicking out people from their homes and the main character join forces with them. One thing about the movie is that is far from dark because they try to do something different with it that feels unfocused for the most of the movie. I mean they kill off the character Anne Lewis in the middle of the movie and they try to have drama with it, but is poorly executed with it. The movie adds in a bunch of random things like ninja android and a stupid jetpack that he wears later in the movie. The ninja android feels like a afterthought since they get taken down way too easily and doesn't leave a impact of the movie. They also have a little girl in the movie named Nikko Halloran who somehow able to hack into stuff with no explanation or development on how she learn that.
The action scenes are fine, but they lack any suspense to be found in it and it feels rushed on how it ended quickly.
RoboCop 3 has a decent story to itself, but it falls down on how this movie feels rushed and is underwhelming on how they ended the series.
The Apparition (2012)
2nd worst supernatural horror movie that I watched
This is the blandness supernatural horror movie that I have seen. The story is your usual supernatural story with a couple of experiences supernatural inside their house. There is a reason because Ben and his group are conducting the Charles Experiment to communicate with ghosts. It's an interesting idea, but I wish the movie had expanded more on that. The movie feels like it brows elements from other horror movies like Poltergeist and Insidious. It makes the movie pretty predictable and doesn't do anything new with itself. Even the movie fails to be creepy due to a lack of scares or atmosphere towards itself. Also, it even bothered to build up towards the experiments and the characters trying to figure out how to stop it. And the ending itself really sucks. There's little to offer with the characters of the movie.
The Apparition is the 2nd worst supernatural horror movie that I have seen on how bland it is and doesn't bring anything new with the genre.
A Good Day to Die Hard (2013)
The weakest in the franchise and not a good way to end the series
While the movie is entertaining, it's pretty much the weakest in the series. This time John goes to Russia to see his son who is one a mission of his own. It feels like that he enter into another different plot and has little connection with it with expectation of his son. I do like the movie tries to have a relationship with John and his son since we never see him since the first movie. The relationship is mostly standard with his son is bitter towards him, but soon grow a bound with each others. Also, the mission itself is easily predictable on the reveal of it and isn't that surprising at all. John "Jack" McClane Jr is a fine character, but I feel like the movie mostly focus on him too much and feel like that the spot light to the movie. And the villains aren't that interesting at all.
Since this is a Die hard movie, the action are probably the reason to watch this movie. They are still entertaining with the amount of action that happen in it with great stunts and explosion that you see throughout the movie. And is the only reason why the movie isn't bad at all.
A Good Day to Die Hard has some great action scenes, but is a disappointing way to end the series.
RoboCop 2 (1990)
Some enjoyment factor, but really flawed story
While the movie isn't a bad sequel, it doesn't compared to the first movie. The story feels clunky with many things going on in the movie like a new drug called Nuke, another evil OCP villain, and RoboCop changes. The whole plotline about Nuke is interesting on what it does to someone and RoboCop trying to stop them from being made. Now the whole plot point about his identity issue isn't that interesting because it's similar to the first movie and him changing into something else doesn't last that long. And the OCP plotline is similar to the previous movie. But I do like the idea of a evil version of RoboCop and they build up to him. As for the new characters they aren't that interesting or memorable to remember about. The action are still entertaining with the amount of action and suspense that happen in it and a couple of good choreography fights in it. And the movie has a couple of good stop motion effects to be found in the movie.
RoboCop 2 has some fun moments, but is a underwhelming sequel that is clunky and flawed.
Life on the Line (2015)
I can see why it's not talk about a lot.
I found this movie to fall into the middle of disaster movies that I watched. It's a different type of disaster that I watched which is different, but the results is just mixed. The movie contains a lot of plot points in it that it feels like it added in and some of them feels unnecessary. Like that ex-boyfriend Ron side plot that goes nowhere interesting. Even some of it are forgotten later on in the movie. John Travolta acting feels off on how his acting skills isn't that good in this movie and feels stiff in current parts of the movie. The disaster scenes are different compared to the others, but there's lack of suspense to be found since it happen pretty quickly and isn't that exciting to watch because it mostly focus on characters problems throughout the movie.
Life on the Line is a mediocre disaster movie that isn't that enjoyable to watch.
Super Icyclone (2024)
Far from the worst disaster movie, but some enjoyable to be found
While I wouldn't say this is a bad movie, there's a lot of flaws in this one. The movie contains a lot of cliches that you see in any disaster movies like the main character discovered something, her boss refused to listen, her teenager daughter going out with her friends, and people not listening until it happen. It's easily predictable with each of these and some of it feels rush like the boss and townsfolks refused to listen. Also, there a couple of plot point that feels important, but end up not using it like that one small romance with the daughter character and one of her friends. The movie have the tornado shooting ice out of itself which is ridiculous and shows how dangerous it is. And the CGI of the tornado doesn't look bad at all. But there are some questionable moments like how the tornado is so close that none of the cars ever gets stuck into it. And I already guess on how the movie is going to ended.
Super Icyclone has some enjoyable to be found, but it full with a bunch of cliches that you see in other disaster movies out there.
The Zombie Diaries (2006)
What is the point of this movie?
I really don't get what is the point with this movie. The movie is split into three separate parts, which is kind of confusing to follow. It feels like it is trying to do an anthology, but it fails miserable over the execution of it. Each of the part aren't that interesting to watch because it's the same thing for each of them and is not that enjoyable to watch. The first chapter starts off with the characters interviewing random people about the outbreak, which isn't that interesting to learn about. I do like the build-up when the zombies first appeared, and it does some tension during it. But most of the zombie actions happened really quickly and aren't that enjoyable to watch. Also, the second chapter is just characters searching for items and shooting at zombies. And the final chapter I have little to say about it. I am going to skip the characters because since the movie spilled into three chapters, there's a lack of development or likability's towards them and no main character in the entire movie. I guess one positive I can give is that the special effects are pretty decent. The zombie makeup looks decent for a low-budget movie, so it's mostly simple, looking with little details on them. There's also a couple of gore moments in it with the gore effects looking decent enough when the zombies are eating its victims.
The Zombie Diaries might have decent special effects, but it is a bland zombie movie that doesn't even know what it wants to be and is lousy.
Nihon chinbotsu (2006)
Some effective disaster scenes, but isn't that good
This movie remines me on both Deep Impact and The Day After tomorrow with different plotlines that are happening and a disaster that are connected with each other. I found the movie to be just alright because the movie does try to have a lot of character development into it and the emotional parts throughout it. But I felt the movie is way too long with the movie mostly focus on explanation and drama that you see in any other disaster movies out there. It also kind of confusing to follow with the amount of stuff that happen in it and some of them isn't that interesting to watch. But the disaster scenes are pretty effective with the amount of danger that the characters are in and the destruction it cause to the countries. The CGI isn't that great, but I seen worst in other movies out there.
Doomsday: The Sinking of Japan is a passable movie that has some effective disaster scenes, but isn't that enjoyable to watch.
Ice Twisters (2009)
Cheesy made for TV disaster movie
While the movie does have some cheesy moments, it's far from a good movie. The ides of a ice twister is a weird idea and I do like how the movie shows the abilities it has in it. But the movie is taken seriously with this ridiculous concept and it kind of fall apart. The movie is mostly fill with expedition dialogue throughout and it gets clucky on how much the characters said throughout the movie. There also a couple of side plot that goes nowhere interesting like the two students meeting the main character and the evil backer plotline. The acting itself is pretty wooden for the most of the time and none of the characters are that interesting at all. Also, Charlie is the one who gives out most of the expedition dialogue. The visual effects looks alright with the tornado scenes even though it doesn't cause that much damage that we see. Also, one part of the climax remined me of The Day After Tomorrow which isn't anything that surprising.
Ice Twister has some cheesy moments, but is far from enjoyable.
Synchronic (2019)
Really creative science fiction horror movie that I watched
This is a really unique science-fiction horror movie that I have watched. The story is interesting with a designer drug that cause people to be inexplicable die. But the movie goes more into what happened to the people who took the drug and what cause their death. Which is a perception of time that sends someone back into a current time for 7 minutes. It's interesting to learn about this idea on how long the victims spend, what places they go to, and what they can bring back from the past. I like how the main character discovered it and tried to figure out how it works and to get back his friend daughter. Also, while the missing daughter plotline isn't that expanded on, it's the reason why the main character is doing the drug to look for her. While the movie isn't scary, it has an eerie vibe with it being sent back in time, and the danger of it shows out it's not a good idea to go back in time. The ending is pretty sad on how it ends. There's only two characters the movie focuses on, and their pretty good. The visual effects are done really well in this movie. I like how we see the time travel the characters are experiencing and how it shapes things around time. And how their bodies disappear when they are sent back in time. It's an interesting type of visual the filmmakers did in the movie and looks impressive.
Synchronic is a unique type of movie that is interesting to watch and is underrated.
RoboCop (1987)
RoboCop arrive on scene and said to watch his movie.
I really enjoyed the movie a lot and is worth seeing. The story is creative with a police who after gun down by criminals is brought back as a cyborg cop that to protect the city. There's a lot of things that goes on with the movie with the crime problems, protests, and commercials that seems to came out of nowhere. I do like how Murphy slowly realize on who he is and wants revenge against the guys who killed him. It shows how his memories are still in him in his robot body and remember stuff from the past. I love the RoboCop character with his design, what his command are, and how he breaks out of it. Peter Weller does a pretty good job as Murphy with his performance as the robot character in the movie. The movie contains a lot of entertaining action scenes in it with him fighting against the criminals. Also, the movie contains a lot of great practical effects to be found in it like the stop-motion of ED-209. There's themes that goes on in the movie which works really well on the plot points it reflected on it.
RoboCop is a great movie to watch with a couple of friends and is highly recommend.
London Has Fallen (2016)
Entertaining, but falls between being just alright
While the movie is fun to watch, it's just mostly ok for the most part. The story is basically the same with main character once again have to go against terrorist again while protecting the president. It does take place at the different location and some minor side plots. But it somewhat similar and is predictable. The characters don't have a new development to them and the new ones aren't that interesting at all. But the acting is still pretty good in this movie. Now as for the action scenes goes, its still entertaining to watch with the amount of suspense to be found in it, but after a while it start to feel the same throughout that gets pretty tedious and gets boring quickly.
London Has Fallen is a alright sequel that is fun to watch, but doesn't add anything new to itself.
A Quiet Place: Day One (2024)
Another great movie in the franchise
Just like the previous movies, I found this one to be really effective. The story does a great job of setting up with the alien arrival and how they came here. I notice how the people already know to be extremely quiet in order to survive, but I guess the military somehow already knows about it and told them. Now, the actual plot is a woman with cancer who, after the alien arrival, wants to go to a current location and want to do stuff before her death. It works really well with her determination to do the things she wants to do before her death and has to survive against the aliens. The movie shows what it's like to be a person with a terminal illness wanting to do things before their death. Just like the previous movies, the characters do a great job of trying to survive against the aliens with their decisions and smart thinking. I also like how the city becomes isolated when the aliens show up and how they destroyed the city. The ending gives off an emotional vibe to it. The characters work really well in this movie and show some depth.
A Quiet Place: Day One is another great movie in the franchise that works well in the other movies and is highly recommended.
Blade: Trinity (2004)
Weakest way to end the series
I found this to be a disappointing way to end the series. The story is basically similar to the previous movie with Blade team up with another group to fight against another enemy group. It goes through the same thing throughout just like the previous movies and doesn't have that much to offer. There's a couple of plot points that happened in it, but they never expanded on that and don't last long. One issue I have is that the dialogue is pretty bad with the characters trying way too hard to be funny, and some of it is cringed. It drags the movie down on making it unenjoyable to watch to do how bad the acting is. But the movie is still enjoyable due to the action scenes. The action scenes are still pretty fun with the number of fights that happened in the movie and are suspenseful, just like the previous movies. The way the movie ends the series is rather unsatisfying and disappointing. I found the characters to be underwhelming in the movie and lack any development for them. Also, Whistler was killed off at the beginning of the movie.
Blade: Trinity is enjoyable but is a disappointing way to end the series and is not that good at all.
Blade II (2002)
Good sequel to the first movie
It's a good sequel to the first movie, but it doesn't beat it. The story is interesting with Blade joins forces with a special elite group of vampires to fight off against a new type of creatures called Reapers. It's interesting to learn about these new type of creatures and how they function in the movie. Just like the previous movie, the movie is entertaining with its action scenes that are fun to watch the characters fighting each other and the ways Blade kills the creatures. It's also suspenseful during those scenes and has a amount of tension during it. I also like the atmosphere of the movie with its cinematography and the locations it has in it. Unfortunately, I found the movie to be pretty predictable with the reveal of the movie, and I already guessed on the outcome of it. Another flaw of the movie is that the characters lack any development to them and aren't that interesting. Just like the previous movie, the special effects range from looking good to mediocre. I like the makeup effects on the Reaper creatures that give them a unique design to them and look pretty good when their mouth open up into something horrifying. The CGI looks better compared to the first movie, but some of it does look outdated. I also like the set designed of current scenes that have good details to it.
Blade 2 is a pretty good sequel to the first movie. While the script and characters are flawed, it is still an entertaining movie to watch throughout.
Coming to America (1988)
Another 80's movie that has charm to itself
I really have fun watching this movie throughout and is enjoyable to watch. The story is basic with a prince wanting to do more in his life and to find someone who loves him on who he is. Prince Akeem Joffer is a great character who want to experience more than where he lives a grows a relationship with Lisa. Eddie Murphy does a great job as the character who is likable and is charming throughout the movie. There's a lot of funny moments to be found in the movie that is done really well and is fun to watch it. The relationship between Akeem and Lisa is the highlight of the movie with the build up towards it and the romantic chemistry between them. While there are a couple of cliches in the movie like her discovering the truth and the father strict rules, they don't bring down the movie at all. I also found the other characters to be done really well too and has development towards them.
Overall, it's a fun movie to rewatch again.
Without Warning (1994)
Really effective TV movie
This is a interesting type of movie that I have watch and is effective. I do like its a news about talking about strange things that are happening in current parts of the world. It feel real due to the performance by the actors and even the real life reporters that you see in the movie. It makes the movie feel like its real on how realistic things are presented here and the situation that goes on. The action that are shown feel like something that will happen in real life and can cause chaos in the world. Also, it contains interesting explanation from current characters that keep the movie becoming more enjoyable to watch. The ending gives off a eerie vibe on how it ends and is effective.
Overall, it's a unique type of TV movie that I watch.
Blade (1998)
An entertaining action vampire movie
This is a really fun superhero horror movie that I have watched. I like the idea of a half human and vampire fighting against vampires to take them out. It's action-packed with him going against a bunch of vampires and the different types of weapons he used throughout the movie. The actual story isn't the strongest point with an evil vampire that needs his blood to summon an ancient vampire to conquer the human race. It's rather generic motive, but it is built up pretty well with the backstory and the steps on Blade looking for him. The movie does flesh-out character with backstories of them and their motive of why they do these things. But the strongest aspect is the action scenes, which are suspenseful and entertaining, with Blade fighting against the vampires and the ways he kill each of them. And the climax itself is suspenseful and intense. Also, the movie has a couple of comedic moments that are either funny or not. I found the characters to be pretty developed and memorable throughout. The special effects range from looking good to outdated. I like the couple of makeup effects you see in parts of the movie and look pretty detailed when you see it. The movie contains a couple of graphic deaths in it with either the vampire exploding with the injected with a serum or burning in the sunlight. But the CGI looks outdated on the time it was made on the vampires' death scenes.
Blade is a fun and entertaining vampire action movie that I enjoyed watching and is highly recommended.
Pôn (2002)
Decent Korean supernatural horror movie
I found this to be most decent for a Korean movie goes. The story is nothing too interesting with current people getting phones from an unknown thing that cause them to either disappear or die. It is mostly your typical supernatural mystery story with current characters trying to figure out what is going on here and the origins of the phone number. The movie does have good tension during the scenes when someone answered the call and something bad happened to them. The atmosphere is pretty good with its gloomy tone and coloring in the current scenes of the movie. Unfortunately, the scares are weak because its your typical cheap jump scares with the ghost appearing and then disappearing when they look again. The reveal of the twist is nothing too interesting and leaves some questions. The characters themselves aren't really bad, but aren't that interesting or memorable to remember.
Phone is a decent Korean supernatural horror movie that isn't that memorable but is watchable.
White House Down (2013)
More enjoyable compared to Olympus Has Fallen
I found this movie to be more entertaining than Olympus Has Fallen. The story is similar to the movie I mention with a terrorist group attack the White House and one guy is the one who have to save the day. It's pretty predictable for the story goes and goes through the same tropes as it. But this one has more comedy to it compared to the other ones since I found some of the humor to be pretty funny. John Cale is basically the same character as the one from the other one and plays the generic trope, but Channing Tatum does a pretty good job in the role. And I like his daughter who does a lot of great action in the movie and is pretty helpful. Jamie Foxx as the president is a weird choice because the filmmakers choice that actor to be the president actor in the movie.
The action scenes are fun and suspenseful to watch with the amount of action that movie presented here and is build up really well throughout. It also contains a lot of destruction in it that has pretty good CGI effects in it with the explosions. And the characters makes some good decisions throughout.
White House Down is a fun movie that I enjoyed watching throughout..
Live Free or Die Hard (2007)
Enjoyable sequel to the franchise, but doesn't beat the first and third movie
I found the movie to be entertaining and fun to watch through. The story is similar to the previous movies with John have to go against a cyber-terrorist with a hacker for help. While the movie is somewhat similar with John doing his task to stop the evil bad guy with a help with someone else and goes through the same tropes. It also has similar relationship with the previous movie with John and Matthew first don't get along, but soon work together throughout the movie. Matthew "Matt" Farrell is the 2nd main character who is helpful throughout the movie, but I found the character to be mostly bland. I also wish we see more of the relationship between John and his daughter to show how much he cares about her and how we haven't seen his kids since the first movie. The villain plotline is pretty generic just like the previous movies and the villain is also generic.
But just like previous movies the action scenes are the highlight of the movie with are still enjoyable to watch. It shows how much work they can put into it and the amount of destruction that happen during the action scenes. I really like how the action scenes are still enjoyable to watch since that why people go see the franchise in the first place.
Live Free or Die hard is a fun movie to watch, but doesn't beat the first movie.
Tentacoli (1977)
Dull Jaws rip-off movie
I found this to be a bland rip off of Jaws that I have seen. The story is pretty standard, with people turning up dead at a beach and some characters trying to figure out what is killing these people. Having an octopus as the villain is an interesting idea because octopuses are rarely used in horror movies. But there's not that much happened in this movie because there's no interesting things happening in it. There's a couple of side plots that go nowhere interesting, like the underwater tunnel. Also, just like Jaws, they don't show the octopus that much due to the low budget of the movie. But the movie does a nice score to it even though one of it tries to be like the Jaws one. There's two scenes where the octopus attacks the boats, and that is the only thing entertaining about the movie. I really like how it destroyed the boats, and it does have suspense to it. As for the climax itself, it's not that enjoyable, but I do like how different it is compared to the other Jaws rip-offs that I have seen. I don't remember any of the characters of the movie because they are forgettable. None of them have interesting traits about them and play standard roles. The movie has a low budget to it, and it really shows. Now, just like Jaws, the octopus doesn't appear that much in the movie, and the filmmakers do the same thing by using the music and the first-person view for the octopus. When we see the octopus, it looks ok for the most part, but nothing too big about it. The movie does have pretty good underwater cinematography to it, and it looks nice.
Tentacles is a very bland horror movie that I didn't like or enjoyed at all except for the boat destruction scenes. It's not that hard to find the movie online.
