Full Job Description

The Business Administration Service (BAS) provides administrative support across Leeds City Council and all its services. The aim of BAS is to develop a professional service which meets service needs and supports the delivery of the Best Council Plan, ensuring the efficient use of resources, capacity, and technology.

This role is working in BAS supporting Children and Families Social Work teams. You will initially be based with Fostering and extended services.

We are looking for an Administration Supervisor to deliver administration support to a variety of social work teams. You will manage your own workload as well as the priorities of the administration teams, which are responsible for the delivery of effective and efficient administration processes to support social work practice.

You will be responsible for 1:1's, appraisals, staff development and sickness monitoring as well as working closely with the Team Leader to develop new ways of working and ensuring a high-quality, consistent service is delivered to our customers.

This role will involve hybrid working but you will be required to work at a number of offices across the city as required with the main base being Kernel House LS14., Shared Services consists of employees in the Business Support Centre and Business Administration Service. Both of these services provide administration support activities to a wide range of teams and services across the council. We help the council to streamline operations by redesigning processes, reviewing models of delivery to enable better sharing of resources and exploiting existing or introducing new technology to modernise the way we work.

Our staff use a range of computer programmes and systems to support services which include those working with teams based across the council in a number of different administration roles.The role involves hybrid working (home/office dependant on service need), potentially working face-to-face with customers and working within the council boundaries as required.

This role is working in the Business Administration Service to deliver administrative support to a variety of social work teams across the city for both Children's and/or Adults. You will manage your own workload as well as the priorities of the administration teams, which are responsible for the delivery of effective and efficient administration processes to support social work practice. You will be responsible for 1:1's, appraisals, staff development and sickness monitoring as well as working closely with the Team Leader to develop new ways of working and ensuring a high-quality, consistent service is delivered to our customers.,

  • Supervise and develop staff to ensure work is prioritised and carried out effectively and efficiently to ensure deadlines are met to high standards.

  • Manage own workload and meet targets whilst maintaining quality as part of a team.

  • Present a variety of information in a clear and concise way both through written reports and verbally with high attention to detail.

  • A commitment to the continuous improvement of quality standards, business procedures and processes through continuous review and development.

  • Provide suggestions to management for the improvements of processes and services.

  • Attend service relevant meetings and take minutes when required.

  • Resolve customer queries, including those of a complex nature.
