Full Job Description

Our Gallagher Public Sector Team are seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual to support our public sector clients in the Midlands.

You will take responsibility for an existing book of business and contribute towards winning new clients. The candidate will manage their portfolio of clients, providing a quality service meeting client demands and needs in order to achieve optimum profitable renewal retention rate and account growth.

You will be working very closely with existing colleagues in the midlands, both giving and receiving that support that every successful team needs to grow intellectually.
How you'll make an impact:

Client Management

  • Manage client/prospect relationships and grow the book/existing accounts.

  • Provide the most appropriate insurance and risk management solutions for our customers.

  • Ensure client information and sales plans are kept up to date.

  • Establish and manage a sales pipeline of potential clients or growth opportunities.

  • Proactively seek out commercial opportunities and partnerships.

  • Create positive relationships at all levels within the client.


  • Quality Management
  • Work as part of a close team of 7 Client Directors who look after clients across Midlands, South East and South West England

  • Work closely with Client Advisers to provide that all-round service excellence to clients.

  • Create that team relationship with client Advisers with the client always at the heart of that working.

  • Work with our Broking Team on individual or complex placements.

  • Deal with internal and external queries from colleagues or underwriters.

  • Build effective relationships with specialist teams within Gallagher including the Cyber, Construction and London Market Practices

  • Assist with new business report writing.

  • Carry out duties following internal policies and procedures in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, good governance and Gallagher's shared values, in particular, putting clients at the heart of our business.

  • Positively influence the Supplier and Insurer relationships which are key to the Public sector space.

  • Suggest and further ideas and solutions including "pieces for market" on sector specific issues.

  • When necessary or needed carry out strategic or futurism research to further anticipate the needs for our clients in the medium to long term.

  • Publish such research and become recognised as thought leader amongst our client population.

  • Be able to present to clients and wider audience when occasion arises.


  • Business and Technology
  • Can process, manage and interpret claims data for the benefit of clients.

  • Marketing techniques and social media (linked-in) familiarity an advantage

  • Proficiency with TEAMs, WORD, EXCEL and POWERPOINT


  • Risk & Governance
  • Ensure market / insurance / legislation and other technical knowledge is developed, maintained and shared to enable service excellence and continuous professional development.

  • Comply with Gallagher Professional Standards Manual in accordance with statutory requirements for role with specific attention to Treating Customers Fairly and Consumer Duty

  • Carry out duties following internal policies and procedures in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, good governance and Gallagher's shared values, in particular, putting clients at the heart of our business.

  • Maintain mandatory training, minimum continuous professional development (CPD) hours, annual performance reviews and goal setting.

  • Be a Role model for good conduct.

    Cert CII/ Dip CII/ Advanced Dip CII (Chartered Insurance Institute qualifications) desirable

  • Experience working with public sector clients is desirable but not essential.

  • Good knowledge of the general insurance market, products and services

  • Previous demonstrable experience in an Account Executive or other Broker / Client facing role.

  • Comfortable working to targets

  • Proven rapport-building experience with internal/external stakeholders

  • Able to identify potential problems and seek advice/consultation when required.

  • Robust knowledge of client market and insurance industry network

  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Authentic communication skills for varying audience

  • Excellent planning and analytical skills

  • Self-motivated and motivates others to achieve.

  • Continually builds and sustains a network managing relationships.

  • Eligible to work in the UK.

  • Ability to travel to client sites.
