We have several full time, permanent positions available. The successful candidates may be based at any of our main centres in England, by agreement.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be work with the Senior Commercial Lead and Senior Commercial Manager to source, procure, negotiate, and manage a variety of business-critical commercial contracts and framework agreements for the provision of goods and services to NHSBT.

Your responsibilities will include :

  • Partnering with suppliers, internal Directorate customers, and NHSBT international peers across the Commercial life cycle, to ensure that all interested parties needs are met.

  • Ensuring compliance with Public Procurement Regulations including the legally mandated OJEU Directives and the NHSBT Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions at all times.

  • Being responsible for delivering contracts that are robust, free from risk, legally binding and importantly cost efficient and effective.

  • Providing support to ensure that NHSBT can demonstrate to the public through the scrutiny of audit both internal and external, that it obtains best value for money on its contracted non-pay expenditure and achieves savings targets.

  • Coordinating and planning your own work via a work programme.


  • On occasions, you will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice.

    Essential
  • Postgraduate Diploma in relevant subject or equivalent experience in Commercial Governance to a post graduate diploma level.

  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD).


  • Experience

    Essential
  • Knowledge of professional purchasing principles acquired via Chartered Institute for Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or equivalent experience.

  • Ability to engender trust and confidence and demonstrate integrity in the provision of advice and support.

  • Experience of successfully delivering on multiple projects in a fast paced and complex environment.

  • Experience in identifying areas of procurement that will benefit from formal tendering procedures.

  • Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint).
