Full Job Description

As a Cost Accountant, you will provide the financial management and integrity of Costs, both BAU and Change. To ensure fit for purpose month end reporting of costs and actively contribute to the improvements in the quality of group wide accounting and reporting. Act as the key point of contact for all related finance enquiries on Actual cost position to improve cost reporting quality across the group,

  • Engagement with relevant stakeholders to ensure the quality of cost accounting and finance related cost reporting is fit for purpose.

  • Areas of focus, include but are not limited to:


  • Delivery of cost reporting in alignment with the close timetable through appropriate analysis and update of the ledgers.

  • Development and maintenance of cost Finance documentation and provision of guidance and education on cost processes.

  • Support improvement initiatives for consistency, standardisation, benefit realisation and post implementation reviews.

  • Gain sufficient depth of understanding of costs to ensure we are able to report on all costs confidently and be able to articulate the key messages.


  • Develop working relationships with roles across Group Finance, Group Programme Office, and Business Areas we support.

    Are you a numbers person with a passion for accuracy and problem-solving? We are looking to appoint Cost Accountant who is AAT Qualified with an interest in studying towards ACCA or CIMA, or QBE to join our team in Alderley Edge., To succeed in this position, you should have a solid understanding of accounting principles. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams are also important qualities we are looking for in our ideal candidate.
