Full Job Description
Reporting to the General Manager - Teesworks, the Environmental Advisor will be responsible to monitor and proactively manage the environmental impact of a quayside operations contract; championing good practice and promoting sustainable practices. Duties include (but not limited to):
· Adherence to ASCO's obsessions in safety & service delivery excellence and sustainability.
· Manage and conduct regular safety tours of facilities where the teams are involved with their activities.
· Being responsible for assessing environmental impacts of the operation and providing advice to management
· Environmental focal point with stakeholders such as the client, fellow colleagues and local residents.
· Responsible for auditing, analysing and reporting environmental performance to internal stakeholders.
· Monitor corporate compliance with applicable legislation, keeping up to date with UK, EU and international regulations concerning the environment.
· Develop and implement environmental strategies and action plans ensuring corporate sustainable development.
· Complete detailed reports ensuring an environmental action plan is in place.
· Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management and recycling.
· Coordinate public hearings and consultation on environmental matters.
· Previous operational environmental experience.
· Strong attention to detail and excellent planning & organising skills.
· Industry awareness of existing and developing best practice.
· Demonstratable capability to deal with management in customer organisations.
· Maintains positive work relationships.
· Solutions based, motivated to achieve the highest standards of performance and internal/external customer support.
· Accustomed to working effectively in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing workloads and priorities, where high standards are not compromised under pressure.
· Ability to work stand-alone while a positive contributor to the wider team.
· Computer literate with operator knowledge across the Microsoft suite.
· Effective communicator and proactive work approach
Minimum Qualifications
· NEBOSH cert in Environmental Management
· Degree/HND in Environmental Science or equivalent
· IOSH Managing Safely,
- operational environmental: 2 years (required)
- NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management (required)
