Full Job Description

The Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics (H&I) function supports haematopoietic stem cell and solid organ transplant programmes for hospitals throughout England. It also provides transfusion, platelet and granulocyte immunology investigations and donor services for the British Bone Marrow Registry, NHS Cord Blood Bank and platelet supply chain. The H&I management team support six national H&I laboratories in the delivery of H&I services to solid organ and stem cell transplant units and the wider healthcare community. We have an active research and development programme responsible for translating research into service delivery. You will be working as part of the management team to support the Operations and Strategy Manager, Head of Function and laboratories to deliver strategic objectives and services for solid organ and stem cell transplants to benefit and improve patients lives. You will be responsible for managing a variety of projects related to existing services and delivering change
projects. The management team also provides operational support to the service development team to enable effective translation of R&D into service. In your role you will be working with clinical and research scientists, operational functions (e.g. quality, finance, procurement, H&S, HR and IT) and blood supply chain departments., In this role you will be required to :- work with the National Head of H&I, the H&I Operations & Strategy Manager, the H&I Development & Improvement Manager and the 6 Heads of Laboratories (HoLs) to continually develop and improve the delivery of services for patients and donors. support and contribute to the development of improved performance and service delivery for the H&I Function and provide input to the development of the H&I strategy. project manage business support programmes (e.g. procurement) and implementation of change programmes within H&I. With prior notice you may on occasions be required to travel and spend time away from base, which may involve working irregular hours and overnight stays.
