Reporting to the Workplace Pensions Director, this role has overall accountability for the Workplace Pensions Proposition of Scottish Widows across our full product offering (GPP, GSIPP, OMP and Master Trust).

Responsible for using market and customer insight to set the strategy constantly horizon scanning to ensure we innovate and differentiate, working closely with our labs and investment partners to deliver against our strategy, crafting clear proposition messaging and leading partnerships with key organisations in the industry.

As owner of the strategy, you'll partner with lab leads on development of digital improvements as well as major programmes and FNZ to deliver changes to the platform and our investment colleagues to deliver a market leading investment proposition.

Supporting marketing colleagues to ensure that Scottish Widows Workplace Savings is seen as a leading player in the marketplace with strong member proposition.

You'll have accountability for aligning the Workplace Platform with the principles of consumer duty and a meticulous product management and governance frameworks to ensure our suite of products meet customer needs.

Your strategy and execution will also help us to achieve significant growth in AuM through advisor recommendation, the acquisition of new clients and the growth and retention of existing business.

You'll understand workplace pension products, customer needs, of the needs of employers and trustees who provide pension schemes and their advisers.

An insight led approach allows you to deliver customer, employer / trustee and advisor led messages. Your well-developed network of external contacts will allow you to take the message direct to market, testing and crafting ideas that make a difference.

What you'll be doing :

  • Horizon scanning the market to understand future regulatory change, needs and innovation for key partners. Developing and implementing the strategy and supporting vision to ensure the delivery of agreed business performance, working successfully with key partners.

  • Designing and developing innovative products which meet customers' needs and help shift the dial on 35% of people not having enough savings for even a basic retirement.


  • You'll lead and influence securing group funding and resources to deliver. You'll own product specification, regulated product design and ongoing product governance including ensuring products and services deliver fair customer outcomes and alignment to the principles of Consumer Duty.
  • Ensuring a clear multi-channel distribution strategy with the design, delivery and implementation of advisor and employer / trustee engagement including the digitisation of ongoing scheme management for employers.

  • Crafting compelling communications that support our interaction with advisors, employers / trustees and customers helping to ensure they are aware of the full breadth of what we provide, to support new proposition launch with clear calls to action.

  • Build and deliver powerful market messaging by developing relationships with industry bodies and membership organisations our advisors and employers / trustees frequent and having a voice where they frequent including social media and key publications.

  • Be responsible for the team to, and personally, present at key industry events and partnerships to raise the profile of Workplace Savings.

  • Using your strong external network to build the profile and understanding of the Scottish Widows Proposition and what is encouraged from the market.

    Strategic problem solver with a customer centred approach

  • A confirmed understanding of Workplace pensions and regulatory landscape affecting our business.

  • Validated ability to develop and package proposition offers to market, honing key messages

  • A deep understanding of Consumer Duty principles

  • Understanding of key partner groups

  • A strong profile in market and a passion to promote Scottish Widows leading proposition

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage an audience

  • Shown leadership skills with ability to encourage a team and stakeholders across the business
