Full Job Description

This is a new role within the Local Maternity and Neonatal System to work to support our local midwifery teams in common aspects of workforce development and promoting equity within services to both staff and service users. It is a system role, working alongside key members of staff around recruitment, retention, international recruitment, ensuring equitable development of our perinatal teams and supporting projects that ensure that we provide safe, high quality and appropriate services to all our women and birthing people in all our communities. The role will: Support maternity and neonatal teams to accurately predict and recruit sufficient Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing workforce numbers, working in the LMNS, and with the ICB and regional partners, Work alongside the current ICB workforce team including the midwifery supply planner, to ensure the initiatives developed to meet workforce priorities in 2023/24 and onwards are embedded and flexed to meet local needs as appropriate, Lead
teams in projects aimed at retaining and developing our existing midwifery and neonatal workforce, ensuring sufficient numbers of assessors and supervisors, leading work around culture, change, role development and support for all staff, including newly qualified team members, Act as an internal equity, equality, diversity and inclusion (EEDI) expert providing advice and support to the LMNS team as well as working with the ICB team and a broad range of stakeholders across maternity/neonatal services and perinatal/maternal mental health, Lead the fulfilment of the mandated LMNS Equity and Equality Plan (2022); prioritising project work, development of guidance and liaison with the Voluntary and Charitable Sector Organisations (VCSE) within the ICB and other wider stakeholders. The plan aligns with the wider population health and health inequalities work currently prioritised by our partnership, Encompass a passion and commitment to achieving equity and equality during maternity and
neonatal care for women, pregnant people and their families, with a strong interest in ensuring womens mental health is prioritised in this period as well; and supporting staff to feel the same way.
