Job Title: Mail Room Administrator
Salary: £15,000.96 per annum

Location: MOD Abbey Wood, Bristol, Bristol, England, BS34 8JH

The opportunity to join the team at MOD Abbey Wood in Bristol, working within a dynamic Mail Room environment, presents a role that demands versatility and a strong customer focus. Operating 24 hours across 4 days weekly (Monday to Thursday), this position requires a professional who can adeptly multitask as needed, with training provided where necessary.

Key responsibilities include maintaining the physical security of mail in accordance with regulations, safeguarding personal information, and adhering strictly to security protocols for handling all types of mail, including suspicious items. Managing incoming parcels, packets, and letters from Royal Mail and commercial couriers, as well as accurately sorting and distributing mail within specified timelines, are crucial tasks. The role also entails physically delivering mail on foot throughout the site, redirecting mail as required, and handling outgoing mail for both Royal Mail Postal Service and Defence Mail Centre.

Maintaining cleanliness, security, and operational efficiency within the Mail Room is essential, alongside maintaining postal systems and promptly reporting any irregularities. Compliance with Health and Safety Regulations and GDPR is paramount, ensuring all activities are conducted in a safe and secure manner.

The ideal candidate will be dependable, trustworthy, and physically fit, capable of working both independently and collaboratively. They should possess strong initiative, responsiveness to organizational and customer needs, and a proactive approach to adapting to varied business requirements. Essential qualifications include basic IT literacy, familiarity with Health and Safety standards, and the ability to cultivate positive customer relationships.

Moreover, physical fitness adequate for handling mail, including lifting and moving sacks and parcels, is required, while possessing a full/Cat B driving license is desirable for the role.
