Full Job Description

RCGP Cymru Wales is recruiting a Policy & Public Affairs Coordinator to support the planning and delivery of policy, public affairs, campaigning, and communications functions.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a wide variety of experiences including the ability to conduct secondary research, provide editorial support, deliver effective campaigns and provide excellent coordination skills in organising external meetings. Experience in effectively handling media enquiries and maintaining a vibrant social media presence is also desirable.

Reporting to the Policy and Public Affairs Manager, key responsibilities will include the provision of effective external communication to key stakeholders and the media, monitoring and reviewing developments within the healthcare sector, provision of comprehensive secondary research and editorial support in the development of briefing papers and policy documents, co-ordination of external policy meetings and College representation at local conferences and stakeholder events.

Educated to degree level or equivalent, the successful candidate will be a natural team player with the ability to work of own initiative. The ability to deal with a varied and demanding workload and to communicate effectively with people at all levels is essential.

The Royal College of General Practitioners is the largest membership organisation solely for GPs in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1952, it has over 55,000 members who are committed to improving patient care, developing their own skills and promoting general practice as a discipline. General practice is the largest branch of the medical profession. It provides some 1 million consultations for patients in the UK every working day and deals with 86% of the health problems experienced by the UK population.
