Principal Engineer - Mechanical Handling

Lead and Manage Technical Design Packages :

• Set project-related objectives.


• Manage designer performance.


• Provide appropriate technical management responses.


• Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the discipline.


Ensure Comprehensive Design Documentation :

• Ensure documentation covers the required scope of operations.


• Meet agreed standards, schedule, and budget as specified by the Project Manager.


Plan for Effective Project Implementation :

• Identify key factors for project success.


• Lead the project's technical planning process.


Quality Management and Compliance :

• Ensure adherence to effective Quality Management Arrangements.


• Operate in compliance with the Business Management System and Technical Manual.


Documentation and Records Management :

• Ensure all processes and activities are appropriately documented.


• Maintain proper records with configuration and quality controls applied.


Risk Management :

Ensure staff and contractors are aware of the hazards and risks associated with their work.

Manage and communicate risk assessments effectively.

Profile :

• Degree in engineering.


• Chartered Engineer registered with the Engineering Council.


• Nuclear course or equivalent knowledge.


• Knowledge of nuclear lifting techniques and processes.


• Design conventional mechanical handling equipment for graving dock facilities.


• Control and protection systems expertise.


• Seismic analysis of mechanical handling systems.


• High-integrity mechanical handling systems substantiation.


Experience Required :

• Technical management of complex design development.


• Expert advice to design houses.


• Engineering design and safety practices.


• Project specification, planning, and management.


• Knowledge of Design, Health & Safety, and Quality procedures.


• Proficiency in engineering software applications.


• Experience with submarine and facility design support.
