Full Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled Production & Workshop Supervisor with a strong background in structural steel and welding fabrication.

In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of a busy steel fabrication workshop, ensuring efficient workflow, adherence to quality and safety standards, and timely completion of projects.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work on a variety of specialized products and projects, moving beyond standard construction steelwork.

Key Responsibilities
Supervision: Oversee the day-to-day schedule and activities of the steel fabrication workshop, ensuring operations run smoothly and safely.
Scheduling: Collaborate with the operations manager to program and prioritize the manufacturing schedule, adapting to changing deadlines and site delivery requirements.
Workforce Management: Prioritize and coordinate the workforce to meet production goals and deadlines, providing direction and support as needed.
Drawing Review: Review fabrication drawings before issuing them to the workshop, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
Problem-Solving: Work closely with designers to identify and resolve issues that may arise during the fabrication process.
Quality Control: Conduct quality checks on products before delivery, ensuring they meet company and client standards.
Process Improvement: Implement job management and workplace organization practices to enhance efficiency and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Staff Support: Motivate, support, and assist in training reviews for workshop staff.
Briefings & Talks: Conduct workshop briefings and toolbox talks to communicate important information and updates.
Stock Management: Manage and reorder stock of welding consumables and equipment as needed.
PPE Management: Issue and monitor personal protective equipment (PPE) for workshop staff.
Document Control: Maintain control of manufacturing documents and records in line with EN1090 and ISO9001 management systems.
Audit Preparation: Prepare for and participate in workshop audits for EN1090, ISO9001, and ISO45001 management systems.

Experience: Significant experience in structural steel and welding fabrication, with a proven track record in a supervisory or managerial role within a steel fabrication workshop.
Skills: Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes, welding techniques, and workshop operations.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting fabrication drawings.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team, with excellent organizational and communication skills.
Quality & Safety: Familiarity with quality control processes and health and safety regulations in a workshop environment.
Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of EN1090 and ISO9001 management systems and their application in a manufacturing setting.
