This position is located in Coventry, UK. We believe in a hybrid model when it comes to remote and onsite work, knowing that both in-person collaboration and individual time to focus are needed. This role has occasional travel opportunities to our Gothenburg HQ and China., As a Senior Engineer - Seating, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and integration of seating systems for various vehicle lines. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that all deliverables meet cost, timing, quality, and specification targets. You understand legal requirements, can take responsibility for DFMEA's and manage the Bill of Materials.

Additionally, you may mentor junior engineers, support advanced engineering projects, and stay abreast of the latest advancements in seating technologies and regulatory standards.

  • Oversee the entire process from concept to production for seating system delivery.

  • Define project scope during the concept stage.

  • Create and manage system functional specifications.

  • Develop and manage ESoW documents.

  • Assist with RFI and RFQ processes, generating necessary engineering documentation.

  • Guide suppliers through the pre-nomination concept stage and manage them from nomination through to production.

  • Ensure all systems comply with legal requirements in coordination with suppliers and homologation teams for all target regions.

  • Integrate seating and/or restraints systems into the full vehicle environment.

  • Oversee the validation of the seating system and assist with component, sub-system, and system crash testing.

  • Create design proposals and concepts, participate in decisions regarding engineering changes and design direction.

    We're currently looking for a Senior Engineer specialising in seating systems. Someone to join our Interiors Engineering Seating team in order to deliver class-leading seating systems. Someone with a passion for electric mobility, an interest in technology, and a desire to create the change we know is needed., In order to succeed in this role, and at Polestar in general, there are a few characteristics you'll need to have.     In addition, you'll need the following qualifications and experience:
  • Degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Experience in seating development from the project start-up to launch phase.

  • Skilled in integrating complex interior seating systems, including seat structures, electrical integration, mechanisms, plastic components, foam and trim fabrics.

  • Proficiency in Catia V5 (desired, but not mandatory) & Siemens Teamcenter PLM software.

  • Knowledge and understanding of DFM, DFA, DFMEA, and DVP.

  • Understanding of systems engineering and system development process methodology.

  • Knowledge of vehicle packaging, occupant ergonomics, safety/restraints systems, and worldwide legal and consumer requirements.

  • Ideally you have experience in vehicle development for the North American market.

  • Competence in managing seating suppliers, including those based in Asia.

  • Understanding of commercial aspects of projects.

  • Willingness for frequent business travel and extended periods of travel to Asia related to development projects.
