Full Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Research Grants Officer to join NDM Experimental Medicine.
As part of the Department's busy research grants team you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective administration of all research grants, from ensuring that research grant applications are submitted in a timely manner, new awards are set up correctly and awards are monitored according to funder's terms and conditions and agreeing interim and final financial reports.
You will Provide high level administrative support and advice to leading scientists in the preparation of research grant applications to external organisations for research funding and with the setup and management of successful awards.
You will provide a high-quality service reviewing the criteria for applications, assisting with costing and pricing for applications using X5, the University's costing and pricing software, and advise on non-scientific matters for applications ensuring compliance with University and funder requirements on submission.
This will involve the completion of aspects of the sponsor application forms and contributing to text, for example the case for support, where appropriate., You will use reports from Oracle Financials and X5, ensuring research budgets are set up accurately and deal with issues arising. Overseeing the organisation and regular internal monitoring of research grants to ensure University policies and procedures together with the sponsor's terms and conditions are being followed. Assist the Business Manager in forecasting and re-forecasting research grant overheads.
You will respond to general queries from Principal Investigators and research staff, and support the Business Manager as necessary.

It is essential that the post holder is educated to A level or equivalent.

A less experienced candidate may be appointed at Grade 5 (£28,759 - £33,966) per annum, with an adjustment in either the essential criteria, responsibilities or duties.
