Full Job Description

We're looking for a Social Media Marketing Officer to help grow, manage and engage our social media communities.

The postholder will develop creative campaigns for channels with over half a million followers, using the latest data and trends to create content that resonates with our audiences.

Sitting in the central Content and Creative Team, you'll work closely with the Senior Social Media Officer to deliver strategic social media activity for the University. You'll collaborate with staff and students from across the organisation and act as a trusted advisor on all things social.

This role is hybrid with two regular "team days" on campus and flexibility to work elsewhere for the rest of the week.

What will you be doing?

  • Maintain the University's social media presence across our five central accounts through content and community engagement, supporting the Senior Social Media Officer to deliver a strategic approach to social media.

  • Design and deliver impactful audience-led campaigns showcasing our leading research, world-class education, and vibrant city.

  • Enhance the institution's reputation with proactive and reactive social media activity.

  • Advise teams across the institution on making the most of social media.

  • Work with our wide network of advocates to uncover great stories and engaging ways to tell them - ensuring content is on brand.

  • Support social listening, reporting, monitoring and evaluation of our campaigns and channels to ensure we're getting the best out of them and engaging our followers.


  • You should apply if

    You're a skilled social media practitioner with experience of effectively managing social media channels for major brands.

    You keep on top of the latest trends and know the ins and outs of social media, as well as how to tailor content to fit diverse channels and audiences.

    You're data-driven and confident using data to improve content, while being keen to try new things to see what works best.
