Full Job Description
We are looking for a new Supplier Quality Engineer employee to be based either in (preferably) Kendal or Blackburn (UK), Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Supplier Quality Engineer will work in a team environment with suppliers and sub-contractors to manage supplier quality issues and continuously improve processes affecting product quality.
What a typical day looks like:
- Carry out supplier validation audits when required.
- Work with Engineering (Design and Manufacturing Engineers) team to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements.
- Work with suppliers directly to request and assist in corrective action plans to address process failures and supplier quality issues.
- Perform on-site supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of corrective actions of supplier quality issues.
- Collate and evaluate supplier quality data to identify process improvement opportunities within the supply chain.
- Work with the supplier directly, create corrective action plans to address process failures.
- Support the Quality Manager to monitor and report on supplier product quality and performance.
- Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in order to adhere to process and prevent occurrence of any non-conformity relating to product, process or system.
- Participate in cross-functional team activities in the development of new products or changes related to current products in meeting customer requirements.
Engineering degree & knowledge of quality and business systems, including ISO9001 - About 3 years of experience in working in the field of Quality in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Use of metrology, inspection methods and equipment
- Understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings
- Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication + good interpersonal, IT & Problem solving skills
- Working knowledge of Root Cause and Corrective Action analysis tools such as 5 Whys, 8D and FMEA
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
