Full Job Description

On the first step on the management ladder, as Transport Team Leader you'll be hungry for that extra responsibility and be able to demonstrate that you have what it takes.

Working at Greggs you will find that we are industry leading when it comes to our fleet, technologies and importantly, training our Driver colleagues. We place the highest of importance on ensuring our Drivers and fleet are safe and compliant. So, we'll provide you with the best training including annual CPC training, Advanced Driver training, Tachograph training, DVWC, Slow Manoeuvre and The Highway Code training.

As well providing brilliant training, Greggs will pay for your DCPC, Driver medicals and Driver card.
What you'll do

Our drivers will look to you for direction and answers. You'll have support of the Transport Supervisor, who you'll report into, but it'll be down to you to lead team huddles and briefings so everyone knows what is expected of them. This includes daily targets, results and also health and safety and food safety procedures. It's busy here at Greggs, so you'll enjoy working in a high speed (not on the road!) environment and rolling up your sleeves by getting behind the wheels of our trucks to make sure the nations favourite products are ready in our shops to serve our loyal customers.

  • You've had some experience of leading a team and love playing an active part in the success of your workmates

  • You have held a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Category CE/Class 1 or Category C/Class 2 driving license for at least 1 year (Maximum 6 penalty points)

  • You have an up-to-date Driver CPC card and training

  • Hold a valid digital Tachograph card

  • You can meet the shift requirements for this vacancy

  • You know what you're talking about when it comes to vehicle legislation, drivers' hours and tachograph legislation.

  • You're happy talking to a variety of people from different backgrounds

  • You're good at planning and organising your own work and time, as well as your teams

  • You know what you're talking about when it comes to using Microsoft Word and Excel

    Competitive pay

  • Colleague discount, up to 50% off our own-produced products

  • Paid breaks

  • Career progression and learning and development

  • Employee Assistance Programme; A free, confidential helpline, offering advice and support with financial, relationship, work-related and wellbeing issues, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Including a mobile app providing a range of wellness content on physical, mental, social, and financial wellbeing.

  • Perks and savings, such as digital gift card discounts, online cashback, in-store and online coupons and lifestyle offers.
