Full Job Description

The Specialty Doctor is responsible for the Consultants in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In his/her work, the job holder liaises with nursing, professional and technical, social work, managerial and administrative staff. The successful candidate will be expected to: Work with professional colleagues and managers to ensure the efficient running of services Work closely with other specialist teams Assist with service improvements and the development of business plans to inform the future strategic direction Participate in clinical meetings and postgraduate activities in the Trust. Share with colleagues the role of educational or clinical supervisor to junior doctors in training, including induction, supportive formal appraisals, supervision of learning portfolios, and career advice as appropriate. Provide bedside and teaching for Junior Doctors and other members of the multidisciplinary team Participate in a Friday afternoon formal teaching rota based on RCOG curriculum, new guidelines and
research Assist in PROMPT course training annually Undertake personal development and mandatory training The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate a firm commitment to the principles of Clinical Governance, including:- Develop and maintain appropriate systems and practice to ensure effective clinical Audit. Attend and contribute to the Trust Clinical Governance Programmes. Ensure that staff within their area of responsibility are aware of the Trust's Risk Management Strategy and that it is implemented Participate in the Trust Clinical Incident Reporting System. Develop a programme of personal continuing medical education and professional development by the relevant Royal Colleges' recommendations.
