Full Job Description

  • To operate the computerised weighbridge, weighing all incoming and outgoing vehicles using the system Elemos

  • To facilitate with promoting the department services and assist with maintaining the customer base

  • Liaise with all drivers; generating necessary paperwork for goods in and out

  • To assist where necessary with haulage planning in liaison with the Transport Schedule.

  • Deal with customer queries both over the telephone and face to face, liaising with appropriate internal departments to resolve

  • Ensure that the key customer service elements are applied at all times; listen, sympathise, take action, rectify and follow up

  • Monitor the customer database and where necessary update relevant information; manually and electronically

  • Undertake data checks as and when required

  • Provide support with statistical and trend analysis of customer service information; to be included in monthly management reporting

  • Provide local assistance when required to the Human Resources, Purchasing, Front End and SHEQ departments

  • Attend relevant meetings as required to discuss work related developments or issues

  • Record keeping both paper based and electronically

  • Provide assistance with the production of mail mergers and Company mail shots

  • General office administration; to include letter / report writing, photocopying, faxing, filing / archiving and minute taking / typing

  • Maintain effective communication with Seniors, Peers and other staff internal and external to the organisation

  • Maintain effective communication with all customers; to include clear interpretation and response to spoken requests, verbal / written instructions and all relevant queries

  • Work within the key objectives and performance indicators required within your job role and department

  • To provide cover where necessary for direct colleagues and other departments and sites within the Group Companies in the event of absence

  • Assist with providing training to additional employees on data entry and Company systems in the event of your absence

  • Be responsible for personal development needs, undertaking training where necessary to fulfil and progress skills within the role

  • To be aware of cleanliness within your work and communal areas and that the Clean as you go' statement is enforced

  • To recommend and identify any improvements associated to work activities / the department area

  • Maintain confidentiality with regard to all aspects of Company and Customer information

  • Ensure that all Corporate Policies, Procedures and associated work activity Health and Safety documentation is adhered to

  • Actively report all near misses, incidents and accidents

  • In addition, the employee must be prepared to undertake any reasonable requests made to meet the business needs of the company

    Experience in a similar role

  • Flexibility, confidence and use of initiative are essential, as the role requires quick thinking and the ability to change plans at short notice, enabling the department to offer an efficient and effective service

  • Be flexible with shift patterns as work demands require
