BRANSON, Mo. (KY3) - Some Fourth of July activities in Branson were interrupted by tornado warnings Wednesday night.

Communities with events on July 4 are closely monitoring the weather before postponing or canceling anything.

Most of them say they have been considering the impact of weather, but will make final decisions in the hours leading up to their events.

The 17th annual “Liberty Light Up” event Wednesday night at Branson Landing had several rain delays and then came tornado warnings for Taney and Stone counties.

The event had live entertainment, activities for all ages, and the fireworks show went off as planned.

The unstable weather is forcing communities across the Ozarks to have a back up plan for the Fourth of July.

KY3 spoke with organizers of events in Bolivar, Bull Shoals, Ark., Cabool, Eureka Springs, Ark., which had 2,000 people last year, Harrison, Ark., and Hollister.

We also reached out to Marshfield, which has a big parade with Gov. Mike Parson serving as Grand Marshal, Monett where they’re expecting 8,000 guests, Rockaway Beach, Shell Knob, and Springfield.

All of them are watching the weather. Some community leaders said if the weather is dangerous they will move fireworks to Friday night.
