I have had experience whereby a member was not happy with the role i gave him, i called him aside explaining why he was the perfect for the role and how it was going to help the team progress. Initially, he protested that he had better qualifications to handle such role, but i implored he had more experience than anyone else on the team and will do job much quicker than anyone else.

A story from one of the times, i was head of a unit as a project manager i was in charge of meeting with lots of unit heads as to make sure the operation went on smoothly. At one point, we had a team meeting where i had to explain to some of the team heads that they were chosen based on merits and i felt them handling this task will be a boost for their career and will make a good impression on their Resume. This boosts morale, and you will see a significant increase in the work rate of individuals. Make them feel appreciated that the work they are doing hasn't gone unseen. As a bonus, you can give out tokens or gifts to the team to appreciate the efforts put into working for you.
