We are very thrilled to announce that our parent company, Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd., has made a groundbreaking move by investing in H2U Technologies, Inc., a company based in the US that has unique, highly efficient catalyst discovery technology aimed at reducing the cost of PEM*1 water electrolysis equipment. Tokyo Gas has also signed a letter of intent to collaborate with H2U through its subsidiary Acario Investment One, LLC. Since February 2023, both companies have been jointly developing affordable, high-performance non-iridium catalysts. They synthesize approximately 20,000 catalyst samples annually and rigorously evaluate their effectiveness and durability. On 11/17, our parent company Tokyo Gas announced its commitment to a landmark $3.8 billion USD offshore wind fund in partnership with Octopus Energy. The fund is unique as it is Octopus’ first dedicated fund for the development, construction and operation of offshore wind assets. Tokyo Gas is a significant cornerstone investor, pledging 220 million euros to the Fund. With a global investment target of 3.5 billion euros in offshore wind by 2030, the Fund aims to enhance energy security and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. TES (Tree Energy Solutions) and Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. have entered into a collaborative agreement to advance the global transition to sustainable energy by exploring and developing e-NG (electric natural gas derived from green hydrogen) supply chains. TES, a prominent global green energy company specializing in e-NG, and Tokyo Gas aim to promote awareness of e-NG on a global scale. The collaboration involves advocating for the institutional design of an international CO2 emissions counting system for e-NG and other carbon-neutral fuels, as well as establishing an international supply chain for e-NG. In alignment with Japan's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, the partnership focuses on decarbonizing gas-based energy, particularly in meeting the 60% heat demand of the country. E-NG emerges as a promising option due to its compatibility with existing city gas infrastructure, such as LNG receiving terminals, pipelines, and consumption equipment, facilitating a smooth transition to carbon neutrality while containing additional social costs. Both companies will continue to work toward the early realization of LNG and city gas decarbonization through the expanded introduction of e-NG.
