John Williams, our VP of Technical Services, was featured on a panel of experts in E-Mobility Engineering's article on thermal runaway 🔋 🔥. Here's a sneak preview of his discussion on PyroThin thermal barriers: “Cell-to-cell barriers do not operate in isolation, so our materials are designed with a system-level approach. Our team takes into consideration how cells expand over time as they age and compress the barriers between them. By a pack’s end-of-life (EOL), the aerogel is compressed to a fraction of its original thickness. Aspen Aerogels was invited to participate in the two-day SAMSUNG E&A Technical Sharing Seminar at their global engineering center. Together with our local partner, Aerogel Korea, we showcased how our aerogel technology platform is able to help enable a more optimized design, mitigate corrosion under insulation (CUI), and improve efficiency without compromising operational performance.
