Kings Mountain Elementary Creates Kindness: The Great Kindness Challenge chose a theme of Create Kindness this year and our creative students did our school proud. They worked collaboratively on art pieces that celebrated Peaceful Cooperation, recognized acts of kindness that included helping each other when someone is hurt, teaching others the rules of a game when it is new to them and asking respectful questions when trying to understand each other’s experience. It takes a mountain! For more information about our school, contact Lesli at schmutzl@cabrillo.k12.ca.us.

Little Cunha Farm, a hub for our outdoor learning, serves as the backdrop for our students to gain valuable insights into agricultural science, thanks to the tireless efforts of Ms. Myers. This week, for instance, our 6th graders discovered the agricultural benefits of cows, recognizing their positive impact, particularly in the creation of high-quality fertilizer from their manure. Meanwhile, our 7th graders delved into the fascinating world of hydroponics, discovering that plants can thrive not only in traditional soil but also in nutrient-rich water. This innovative technique broadens their understanding of sustainable cultivation methods. In parallel, our 8th graders focused on honing practical skills in the kitchen, emphasizing safety measures as they prepared delectable dishes using farm-fresh ingredients. This holistic approach to education ensures that our students not only acquire theoretical knowledge but also gain hands-on experience in various facets of agriculture and life skills.
