We’re thrilled to celebrate the conclusion of the 22nd Carus Summer Science Camp! Local students entering the sixth grade explored STEM throughout the week with engaging demonstrations, hands-on experiments, and exciting tours of the water treatment plant and Hegeler-Carus Mansion. Special thanks to our amazing camp director Dan Fitzpatrick, assistant Angelique Depenbrock, and dedicated volunteer Ken Pisarczyk for making this week unforgettable. Today, the students participated in competitive rocket launches to cap off their week of discovery. Prizes were awarded to best rockets, 2nd best rockets, and even the WORST rockets. Day 3 of the Carus Summer Science Camp was an exciting journey back in time and a deep dive into local history! Our campers embarked on the I&M Canal Boat Tour, experiencing life in the 1840s aboard a replica, mule-powered packet boat while learning about a variety of social science, history, and STEM topics. After the canal tour, students had the unique opportunity to explore the Hegeler-Carus Mansion, guided by the Hegeler-Carus Foundation. They discovered the fascinating science and history connected to Carus, enriching their understanding of our local heritage. #SummerCamp #STEMEducation #History #FutureScientists #ScienceCamp

Happy Fourth of July! As we celebrate Independence Day, let's also remember to be mindful of our environment. While fireworks are a spectacular display of science and chemistry, they can have a significant environmental impact. Here are some eco-friendly ways to celebrate: -Opt for a laser light show or a virtual fireworks display. -Host a backyard barbecue using reusable or biodegradable tableware. -Get creative with eco-friendly decorations and crafts. -Enjoy outdoor activities like biking, hiking, or a picnic in the park. Have eco-friendly ideas and suggestions of your own to add? We'd love to hear them! Wishing everyone a happy, safe, and green Fourth of July! #IndependenceDay #FourthOfJuly #EcoFriendly
