At Family Reach, "meeting patients where they are" is more than just a phrase. One of the ways we're actively reaching people in need is through our on-site support program. Alima Lester, our On-Site Resource Navigator, works at treatment centers in Philadelphia, where there are some of the highest rates of cancer diagnoses and poverty in the country. ➡️ Swipe for an example of this work in action.

"Cancer isn't just emotionally and physically taxing: It can take a steep financial toll on patients, caregivers, and families," reports TIME. ➡️ Wiping out bank accounts, struggling to afford groceries, and losing safe housing shouldn't be side effects of cancer, but they are. Financial interventions level the playing field so that every patient can meet their basic needs and maintain access to life-saving treatment. #financialtoxicity #cancersupport

Families often tell us that feeling ashamed, afraid, and uncomfortable makes it difficult to share their financial concerns when going through cancer. 🔍 NEW DATA from an analysis of nearly 6,000 cancer survivors reveals that moderate to severe health-related social needs are prevalent among younger adults — and they're linked to increased mortality rates.
