  • This week at the Stricker Family Development Center in Fremont, our childcare classrooms had an absolute blast, getting messy and creative in the mud kitchen outside and cooling off in the sprinkler. There are still openings available for childcare, Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. for children ages 3-5 years. Go to glcap.org/earlychildhood for more information or call the Stricker Family Development Center at 419-334-8511 for a tour of the center!

  • CHECK IT OUT! Great Lakes RCAP were out in the field with two Asset Management Technicians, Julia and Jacob, performing pothole inspections using a hydrovac to determine the material of water service lines to help collect data for communities' Lead Service Line Inventories. This picture was taken at our team's 1000th pothole inspection! Make sure to follow the Great Lakes RCAP social media pages to stay up to date on all that's happening in the world of RCAP!

  • Homeowners may think of weatherization as a fall project that preps a house for winter. But weatherization also helps households save energy in the summer months by keeping cooler air inside the house and increasing the efficiency of air conditioning. The Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) offered through Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) provides no-cost weatherization assistance for eligible residents of Erie, Huron, Lorain, Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, and Wood counties. APPLY TODAY AT glcap.org/weatherization.

  • Head Start early childhood centers provide care and preschool services for children ages three through five. Children enrolled in the program attend classes Monday through Thursdays during the school year. Centers provide a daily meal and snack along with hands-on activities. Children are provided with medical, mental health, nutrition and dental services. Families also receive at least two home visits and two parent-teacher conferences. Though eligibility is in part determined by income, we look at each family's circumstances and will assist them in finding the best options for their childcare needs. Centers are available in Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca and Wood counties. Enroll today at glcap.org/headstart.
