We’d like to introduce you to Pam Stoeber, a member of our Senior Care Center team. Pam received her B.A. in Theological Studies from Loyola Marymount University. She had just completed the prerequisites to begin the master's program in accounting at CU Denver, when some life changes prompted her to rethink her plan. She shifted gears and received her CNA through Technical College of the Rockies in Delta. In August, Pam is planning to begin the LPN program at Montrose Technical College/CMU. After completion, she hopes to return to the SCC as a nurse. Pam had some very personal reasons for choosing to join the GVH team. “My mom had a stroke in 2013, and we moved her to Gunnison from California so I could take care of her. After her death in 2018, a little voice kept calling out for me to work at the Senior Care Center. I needed time to process my loss, and in 2022, after some changes in my family, I realized it was time to dive right in. As in any job, there are tough days, but I am so fortunate that I get to spend time with and care for the residents. I know that I am exactly where I belong.” Although Pam believes this is probably the hardest job she’s ever had (both physically and emotionally) she loves the residents. Knowing that she is making their days a little better (and knowing that they make my days better, too) makes her realize what a gift they are. “I was feeling really sad a few months ago, really missing my mom, and as I was helping a resident to bed, I knelt down in front of her to give her a hug, as I do most nights. She hugged me back and didn't let go. She knew I needed her as much as she needed me. Those moments are priceless. Aside from raising my children, there is nothing I've ever done that makes me prouder or more grateful.” Outside of work Pam spends time with her family riding bikes, playing Wiffle Ball in the backyard, fishing, and throwing the baseball around. Recently, they reconnected the Wii and have had some very competitive boxing matches and rounds of tennis. Pam’s older kids and her two-year-old grandson are in Colorado Springs and scattered throughout California, so she makes trips to visit everyone as often as I can. #gunnisonvalleyhealth #lovewhereyouwork

We’d like to introduce you to Whiley Hall, a member of our mobile crisis team. Whiley attended the University of Colorado Boulder, where she graduated in 2014 with bachelor’s degrees in environmental studies and psychology with a minor in philosophy. She recently graduated from Adams State University’s Clinical Mental Health program in pursuit of becoming a licensed professional counselor. Whiley chose to join the GVH team because of her deep passion for working with community mental health organizations. “I crave challenges and am driven by a profound desire to help others. I consider it my calling to assist people on their journeys toward healing, empowering them to overcome obstacles, make positive changes, and develop a deeper understanding and compassion for themselves. Being fully present with clients during some of their darkest moments and helping them see glimmers of light is incredibly rewarding. Every journey begins with one step, and it is a great honor to guide individuals in taking that first step, believing in their abilities, and working through their obstacles one step at a time.” Outside of work, Whiley’s passions include mountain running and rock climbing, which she considers her favorite spiritual practices. These activities keep her present, moving her body consciously, purposefully, and mindfully. In August 2021, Whiley won and set a course record at the High Five 100 Mile ultramarathon, in which runners must self-navigate complicated terrain and summit the five 14,000-foot mountains around Lake City, Colorado. In past years, Whiley also placed highly in elite divisions for the competitive Run Rabbit Run 100 Mile. She is currently working towards her massive goal to summit every Colorado mountain 13,000 feet or higher. As of this writing, she has climbed 531 of Colorado’s 583 ranked 13,000-foot peaks, and when adding in the whole United States, she has summited 2,745 unique peaks. #gunnisonvalleyhealth #lovewhereyouwork
