About us

Impact is the digital destination for young people shaping the future. Our mission is to inspire and empower through accessible information, stories, and resources. In the 2 years since our founding, we've grown into a multi-platform media brand with 2.9M followers across our platforms. Our main platforms are Impact, http://instagram.com/impact, and Environment, http://instagram.com/environment, on Instagram. Each month, we reach 20M people and engage 5M of them (Our engagement rate is 10X traditional media on Instagram). We also have a newsletter with 30K subscribers! The Impact team has fundraised $1.4M for social causes and organizations like the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, Ukrainian Refugees, and COVID-19 relief. We’ve also been able to direct hundreds of thousands of petition signatures to important causes such as Act for Antonio and Justice for George Floyd.

    We are incredibly appreciative of LinkedIn for choosing to partner with Impact Media on the 2024 “Out @ Work” Guide. As a media outlet with a majority LGBTQ+ staff that was founded by queer entrepreneurs, we know all too well about the realities of being LGBTQ+ in professional settings. With this LGBTQ+ Work Guide, we hope queer professionals are able to better navigate the invisible roadblocks they may face throughout their careers. We also hope companies begin to better assess how they can create safer workplace environments for their queer employees.     This Pride Month, Impact Media has partnered with LinkedIn to release the 2024 “Out @ Work” Guide. 🌈 We worked with LinkedIn to: ❤️ Explore the realities of being LGBTQ+ in professional settings ❤️Help queer professionals navigate the invisible roadblocks they face throughout their careers Did you know that 75% of LGBTQ+ professionals have code-switched at their job? Code-switching refers to a marginalized person toning down aspects of their identity to blend in with people around them. Queer people may change their language, mannerisms, or appearance at work because they: - Don’t want to be negatively stereotyped - Aren’t comfortable showing their full identity - Are scared of being treated differently - Want to maximize professional opportunities - Fear hostility from coworkers or management As a media company with a 65% LGBTQ+ staff, we were thrilled to collaborate with LinkedIn on this project. We believe queer and trans people deserve to be able to express their authentic selves, both at work and in all other areas of life.
