Big week for client American Giant! Proud we've been working with Bayard Winthrop and team since the very beginning.

Founder & CEO at American Giant

This morning, American Giant announced a partnership with Walmart to offer American Made T-Shirts in 1,700 of their stores starting 4th of July weekend. I have always believed that making and buying things in this country should not be the exclusive domain of the premium end of the market. Until now, we’ve struggled to find a way to offer a compelling domestically made product to value shoppers. Walmart has offered us a chance to realize this dream.   As the largest retailer in the world, Walmart provides a vast reach we could never achieve on our own. And through its large volume commitments, we are able to work with our supply chain partners to make the investments to improve capacity and cost-efficiency, while creating competitive jobs. Through its American Lighthouses initiative, Walmart has committed to finding and investing in US manufacturing suppliers. We are proud and excited to be one of their key partners. While not made to the same specifications as the clothes you’ll find on our site or in our stores, we believe the T-shirts we are selling through Walmart are a testament to what can be achieved when you combine the skill and dedication of the American worker, the determination of the entrepreneurs who employ them, and the foresight and vision of American corporate giants like Walmart. Our mission remains the same: Build the best clothes in the world here at home at price points that work for all Americans. Today marks a significant milestone on that journey. #AmericanGiant #Walmart #AmericanMade #MadeinUSA

In the latest edition of The Cooler, we sat down with Erin Glabets, head of communications at Sublime Systems, a Boston-based startup developing technology to decarbonize cement-making. Erin has found there is important nuance and many different audiences who all require different types of stories for ultimate buy-in. And it’s working: Sublime was recently awarded $87 million in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and has created partnerships with industry stalwarts like BOSTON SAND & GRAVEL CO. Last month, team members Matt Calderone and Abby R. had the opportunity to attend the second annual Carbon Unbound Summit to discuss the future of carbon removal, a topic we’re passionate about here at the Squad. It’s an exciting time in this space. We get to work with leading companies and organizations that are building an entirely new industry from the ground up. We’re at the start of something that has the potential to make a real impact – for our climate and our lives. To be involved at the beginning of an emerging technology and contributing to these larger conversations is exactly what inspires us each day.

Today we are announcing our 2024 class of fellows, which was conceived by and funded through Mission North’s cross-industry diversity initiative that aims to empower the next generation of PR professionals. The collaborative effort creates pathways for individuals historically excluded from leadership positions in the public relations industry by offering opportunities to gain valuable work experience while offsetting some of the financial burdens of tuition and other education expenses. Six different PR agencies support the program, which includes a combination of scholarships and stipends awarded through the PRSA Foundation totaling $80,500, and paid internships with each agency. This year, the fellowships will be awarded to: ●       Agean Public Relations Fellowship: Fatoumatta Sowe, Cornell University ●       The Bliss Group Bliss-Baker Fellowship: Jalani Isaac, St. John’s University ●       Just Drive Media Communications Fellowship: Evelyn Ealey, Elon University ●       LaunchSquad Fellowship: Natalie Aldous, Brigham Young University ●       Method Communications Fellowship: Venecia Easter, Florida A&M University ●       Mission North The Future Is… Fellowship: Naiyana Williams, Hampton University The fellows will complete a five-to-eight-week paid internship this summer, using a curriculum developed by Mission North following the launch of its The Future Is… Fellowship in 2022. "I get overwhelmed every day. It's not just because I run a startup and have two children. It's not just because the climate in the world and the untold human suffering that will happen is going to happen. It's that we do have tools to mitigate these things, but I don't think there's enough conversation about any of them." Today on The Cooler, we're sharing our first podcast with Kip Pastor, founder and CEO of Pique Action. Its an incredible conversation that touches on the power of visual storytelling to accelerate interest, cultivate hope, and inspire action around climate solutions. Listen in below and don't forget to subscribe to The Cooler for more climate conversations delivered straight to your inbox.

Today, our client, the ICF Climate Center, published its flagship report on the rising exposure to extreme heat in disadvantaged communities. Leveraging proprietary climate modeling to project the exposure of disadvantaged communities in America to extreme heat in the coming decades, the report shows the number of people in disadvantaged communities exposed to health-threatening heat waves each year could rise by an additional 25 million or more by 2050. A similar number of people could have their energy reliability negatively impacted as they use their air conditioning to stay cool during this extreme heat. This report comes at a critical time as extreme heat is particularly dangerous for these communities, which are least able to prepare for, withstand, and recover from the impacts of extreme heat. You can download the full report here: https://lnkd.in/eRjQhafQ Thanks to Harry Stevens at The Washington Post for his reporting.
