We are excited to announce that effective today, Liberty Hospital is a part of The University of Kansas Health System! The act of joining the health system is the result of a deliberate, thoughtful and transparent process we started in May 2023 to find a strategic growth partner. From the beginning of this process, our focus was on what would be best for patients, our people and the community. The goal of Liberty Hospital joining the health system is full integration, with access to the expertise and resources across academic and community medicine. Be sure to follow our journey online, https://lnkd.in/gPgrQWBj, we look forward to sharing frequent updates with you!

We are shaping the nurses of tomorrow! In collaboration with William Jewell College, Liberty Hospital hosted a summer nursing camp to give students an inside look into nursing and healthcare. Students spent one day at William Jewell learning about health assessment, taking blood pressures, how to give injections, and listening to the heart and lungs. They spent a second day at Liberty Hospital, getting to experience a birthing simulation and observe in both the emergency department and operating room. 🏥🩺

Laci Powell, PCT, 7 South, was the second quarter 2024 winner of the BEE Award. This Liberty Hospital-specific award was developed with the intention of specifically recognizing technician employees that are an integral part of our departments and teams. “My elderly father spent two days with Laci on the 7th floor. She was amazing! He requires help with bathing and dressing and can be very grumpy at times. Laci took it all in stride and won his heart. She was incredibly professional and had an amazing bedside manner. Those are great traits, especially for a 19-year-old just starting out in her career. The entire staff was very good, but Laci really stood out to him. He bonded with her and really loved when she would come to check on him. I think she really took to him, too. I really believe she was the reason that he stayed in a positive mindset and made his stay much more tolerable. She is a definite asset to your staff. I am incredibly grateful to Laci for helping us keep him in a positive mood. He is still talking about her and how much he liked talking to her. I hope management realizes how special she is.” Congratulations, Laci, and thank you for all that you do at Liberty Hospital! We are grateful for your time and dedication to our patients.
