🚢 Empowering Staten Island's Future at May Ship Repair! We're excited to unveil a new partnership with Hunter Roberts Construction Group, marked by the construction of a 140-foot barge. This initiative is a pivotal development for both marine construction and the wider Staten Island community. As the offshore wind sector expands, so does our commitment to cultivating a skilled workforce here in Staten Island. In collaboration with local nonprofits, we're dedicated to training and hiring fresh talent, ensuring that our community remains a central player in the maritime industry. NY State Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton emphasized the project's importance, stating, "Vital infrastructure projects like this bring and keep good jobs in Staten Island. I am grateful for the skilled workers and investments that make these initiatives possible." Mohamed Adam, President of May Ship Repair, also expressed his appreciation for our partners, "We appreciate our partners like Hunter Roberts Construction Group, who provide us the opportunity to continue this legacy of marine construction on Staten Island." The project also garners strong support from representatives of Assemblyman Charles D. Fall's office, reinforcing the impact this project has on boosting Staten Island's economy. The involvement of the Staten Island Industrial Alliance (SIIA) demonstrates the power of collaboration in enabling small businesses and industries to thrive. We're proud to contribute to the growth and sustainability of our local economy and community one project at a time. #MaritimeIndustry #StatenIslandBusiness #CommunityDevelopment #WorkforceTraining #SustainableGrowth #offshorewind

  • The Offshore Wind industry is poised to employ over 13,000 New Yorkers and generate a supply chain of $109 billion for the east coast, all by 2030. By taking advantage of free resources like We Source NYC, forward-thinking businesses like Kepco Power Supplies, May Ship Repair Contracting Corp. , and ACME Industrial, Inc. are plugged into this multi-billion-dollar supply chain. Based in Flushing, Queens, Kepco Power Supply designs and manufactures DC power supplies and electronic load components for EV, solar, hydro, and wind power technologies. This company’s designs pioneered the development of the modern power supply like the first programmable power supply, the first bipolar (4-quadrant) power supply, and the concept of the wide-band operational power supply. North Shore, Staten Island’s May Ship Repair Contracting Corporation offers dry docking, repair & maintenance for a range of maritime vessels as well as machining projects and steel fabrication. This certified MBE company is investing in new machinery including automated welding robots, making May Ship Repair the first shipyard in the country to have such equipment and upskilling employees. Also on the North Shore, ACME Industrial’s highly skilled team of engineers, craftsmen, and technicians have worked for over forty years supporting the maritime industry. To begin serving offshore wind, ACME established ACME Wind Services LLC, which has fabricated parts for a monopile installation project and a lifting frame for sub-sea concrete mattresses – two essential aspects of an operational offshore wind development. Through the We Source NYC initiative, we will support local industrial businesses like Kepco, May Ship, and ACME by providing access to opportunities in the green economy.
