Congratulations to past J-WAFS PI Zachary Smith on receiving tenure as the Robert N. Noyce Career Development Professor in the MIT Chemical Engineering (ChemE) department! Professor Smith’s research interests include, “the molecular-level design, synthesis, and characterization of polymers and inorganic materials for applications in membrane-based separations.” His work has promising industrial and environmental applications, including water purification and desalination, as seen in his J-WAFS project.
