Our #HealthForLife schools created a fantastic range of colourful barrows for this year’s BBC Gardeners’ World Live event in Birmingham earlier this month. Focusing on the theme of how climate change affects food production 45 schools have researched and planted barrows to display their imaginative ideas. Supported by our partners The Conservation Volunteers and Services For Education we’re proud to have created and funded #HealthForLife Life since 2011, engaging over 250,000 people across Birmingham including 1 in 2 Primary schools.

As we keep evolving and investing in our global Supply Chain, we do so with our People – which sit at the heart of it all. Earlier in June, we held our first ever MDLZ Plant Leaders Academy, a four-day workshop specifically crafted to develop well rounded E2E business partners leading our manufacturing facilities. Our first cohort took place in Lörrach, Germany - our very own home of Milka chocolate 🍫 – where 32 Plant Leaders from 21 countries came together to learn, network, and share best practices. Over the course of the week, they attended a series of modules on how to Grow the Business, Lead the Future, and Inspire others to Action. Moreover, the participants had the honor to join panel conversations with our CEO Dirk Van de Put, CFO Luca Zaramella, CPO Stephanie Lilak, EU President Vinzenz Gruber and many other senior stakeholders from within #TeamMDLZ. As we continue our growth journey towards our Vision2030, we recognize the Plant Leader as one of the most important roles in our organization. From its humble beginnings in 1935 with a £40 donation, we are proud to continue its legacy donating £10 million to charities over the last 15 years. The Cadbury Foundation invests in local communities throughout the UK and Ireland. Focusing on skills and employability, healthy lifestyles and the passions of our employees, supporting both local and national partners which are close to our operations. One of our current programmes #HealthForLife has now reached over 250,000 people across Birmingham and in 2023 we also partnered with FareShare UK to rescue 36,000 tonnes of surplus food which created 85 million meals for over half a million people across the UK. Our Chairman and CEO Dirk Van de Put inaugurates 'OREO Street' in Opava, which houses our largest cookie factory in Europe! The Opava City Council has officially renamed the street to recognize our Company’s significant impact on the local community and economy. "We are not merely making history; we are shaping our future Vision for 2030," states Emmanuel Chilaud, Senior Director of the Czech biscuit production cluster. The Opava factory is a hub of innovation and production, employing a team of +1,000 employees and having the capacity to produce 110,000 tons of cookies and wafers annually. This output includes OREO and Milka brands. The creation of OREO Street in Opava represents more than a tribute to past achievements; it is a strategic step that highlights our ongoing commitment to growth and innovation! ✨

30 years on and Green and Blacks remains proud to have been the first Fairtrade product launched in the UK back in 1994. The team were thrilled to attend The Fairtrade Foundation's 30th Anniversary Event last week which showcased the impact the Foundation has had to date and outlined its future ambitions. It is inspiring to see the progress of the Fairtrade movement and we’re looking forward to continuing to be part of this journey to drive fairer trade across our supply chain.
