Security officer Rubere Raffoul was starting his shift at #NYPAllen this past Tuesday when someone came into the lobby and said a woman outside was giving birth. Without missing a beat, he ran to the front driveway, where Leonela Valdez was in the backseat of a car, in the middle of active labor. Within a minute, he had helped deliver her healthy 7-pound, 7-ounce baby girl right there on the spot. “I’ve always been a ‘run into the fire’ kind of guy, so if I hear someone needs help, it’s no hesitation,” he said. After being diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, Anthony underwent chemotherapy and antibody treatments at #NYPWeillCornell under the care of Dr. Lisa Roth. Now cancer-free, the Long Island native recently walked at Stony Brook University’s graduation ahead of earning his MBA and is back on the field playing football.
