"Potential operators and customers are now defining missions which require much greater payloads and longer flight range than the 108nm (200km) maximum offered by most first-generation air taxis, which are largely powered by electric batteries." Read more from Tony Harrington in his article for FlightGlobal about how Odys Aviation's hybrid-electric propulsion technology will solve real consumer needs when it comes to current travel challenges, without range and payload constraints. https://lnkd.in/gBNuyM2q #hybridaviation #sustainableaviation #regionalaviation

Our CEO James Dorris recently spent some time with eVTOL Insights' Executive Editor Jason Pritchard to talk about everything from his motivations in setting up the company, to the rapidly expanding support for #regionalairmobility across a number of sectors. You can listen to the full episode at the link below. Thanks as always to Jason for the conversation and perspectives.
Our next #podcast is now live! This week, we were delighted to be joined by James Dorris, CEO and co-founder of Odys Aviation. In this episode, James explains more about his journey to-date and the reasons that led him to jointly set up Odys Aviation. As a sustainable aircraft startup, he tells us about the role it hopes to play in the market and the aircraft it is building. We hear about his thoughts on Regional Air Mobility (RAM), especially as it makes for a compelling use case when compared to other shorter journeys using eVTOL aircraft. Sticking with RAM, James gives his take on what he’s been hearing about the speed to market of hybrid RAM aircraft vs eVTOL, and that many suggest hybrid RAM will be that stepping stone to the next generation of aviation. As Odys will use city #airports and local #helipads, we ask James if the company has any specific routes identified and the importance of utilising existing landing infrastructure. https://lnkd.in/eajVxfCx #evtolinsights #odysaviation #newepisode #listen #regionalairmobility #interview #usa #electricaviation

Our most profound takeaway from our partnership with the #uschamber, the #greentech mission and our #COP28 experience is that collaboration among stakeholders is pivotal to drive the climate change and sustainability agendas forward. Small companies need to work with large companies to tackle innovation challenges and break the slow cycles of traditional development. Governments need to rally together to support the private sector and in turn, the private sector needs to commit to technologies that not only sustain their own business models, but that help grow new industry sectors for the benefit of society and the environment.
While #COP28 is a wrap, I am eager to see the impact and momentum that carries forward. I felt honored to participate in the #uschamber's effort to showcase the tangible role business is playing in delivering climate solutions and have the opportunity to work with our members and our partners in the #UAE and across the region. I was truly honored to moderate a discussion at our gala dinner with three business leaders, PepsiCo's Eugene Willemsen, Honeywell's Gavin Towler, and HSBC's Zoe Knight, whose companies are walking the talk and making a real difference around the globe. Their leadership and ambition are inspiring. In Dubai, I had an opportunity to meet with many government leaders from across the #MiddleEast and explore how the private sector is partnering to support their decarbonization and sustainability projects. Our discussion in the #Iraq pavilion on gas capture projects with H.E. Dr. Fareed Yasseen and H.E. Dr. AbdulBaqi AlSalait and leaders from GE Vernova, Baker Hughes, and Honeywell exemplified the sort of public-private sector collaboration we need to make real progress. And, kudos, to the #UAE for hosting an inclusive COP that showcased the creativity and innovation of startups. We brought a number of young clean tech companies on our #GreenTech Business Mission to the UAE in May, and it was incredible to see several, like SolarSpace, Lyten, Odys Aviation, Eden, and Ignite Solar, not only present in Dubai at COP28 but being featured and having an opportunity to highlight their technologies and grow their business. #UniteActDeliver was theme of COP28. Business is clearly embracing the theme and will be integral to helping governments meet their commitments going forward.
