Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies reposted this
The team at Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies Larne were delighted to host students from local schools recently. It was a great opportunity to explain our business and the #STEM career options available both locally and further afield. Many thanks to Aimee Stirling for arranging the visits and facilitating discussions with the students and to Darren Mitchell and his production team for hosting tours and talking through the range of roles within our #Larne #manufacturing site.
Students see ‘behind the scenes’ of major employers in the Borough Three major companies in the Borough have been busy over the past number of weeks welcoming groups of students from #Larne High School and Larne Grammar School to see behind the scenes and learn more about career opportunities and pathways at each company. Larne based companies Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies Ltd. and Teva, alongside Carrickfergus based company Ryobi Aluminum Casting (UK) Ltd., welcomed students who were studying a variety of subjects including A-Level Engineering and Business Studies. During the visits, the students had the opportunity to learn more about what makes each uniquely different company work and the vast global scale of each. The tour of the plants included an insight into product development, research and development, manufacturing, business development and quality assessment. The tours were organised through the engagement activities as part of the wider Science Summer School initiative, spearheaded by Professor Brian Cox CBE, OBE, FRS. The visits allowed students to directly engage with key employers in the area, helping to support future skills needs and providing an opportunity for companies to help drive recruitment into their sector. Company engagement with schools is important to ensure there is a pipeline of essential skills for future career opportunities for the wider Borough and Northern Ireland. Exciting times at Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies as we celebrate 60 years in business. Building on our blood banking legacy, we have expanded into plasma-derived therapies, clinical therapeutics, and cell and gene therapy technologies. For six decades, #TerumoBCT has been committed to serving patients through innovation and collaboration. If you have ever donated blood or know somebody who has received a stem cell transplant, you have likely interacted with our work. Balancing global investment with local commitment, we continue to actively invest in our future and community. Some of our contributions to the local community include: 📈 Economic Growth: Strengthening workforce in #Jefferson and #Douglas counties to about 2,000 people. This includes our investment in a $250 million manufacturing plant opened in 2022. 🔬Education: Supporting local education programs for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) for 20 years, such as partnering with STEMblazers to offer hands-on experiences to inspire teen girls in the Denver-metro area. Robust internship program including students from Colorado State University, University of Colorado, and Colorado School of Mines. 💜 Non-profit Focus: Supporting local nonprofits such as The Action Center. Raising about $2 million for the local chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Read more here: https://bit.ly/3xRx8ny #TerumoProud #ContributingToSociety #LakewoodCO

A child diagnosed with leukemia. A father with a rare genetic disease. A trauma victim struggling to survive. For these and many other patients, hope can lie in the healing power of blood and cells. That’s why voluntary blood donation is so important. And since an always-ready blood supply isn’t a given, we’ve decided to commemorate our 60 years as a blood and cell therapy-focused company by asking everyone in our communities to do just a little bit more. To take as many steps as possible to ensure that hope is available to those who need it. 💡Recently, the first Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies #training was held at the new training center inaugurated last October by Terumo Medical in #MexicoCity. The Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (TPE) Sales Training was conducted on this occasion. This program is designed to strengthen our teams' sales skills and strategies in #LATAM. More than 4,500 professionals are expected to be trained here – making it the second biggest facility for Terumo in Latin America. In this training center, Terumo BCT has a dedicated space where #healthcare professionals can see our equipment and interact with the products in a non-clinical environment. This center will hold internal and external training to support continuing education. #OneTerumo #TerumoProud #Mexico

We are all very #TerumoProud Dr. Shibasaburo Kitasato, one of the founders of Terumo, will be portrayed on the new Japanese banknotes 💴
Today, on July 3rd, new banknotes will be issued in Japan. The chosen portrait for the new 1,000 yen note is Dr. Shibasaburo Kitasato, one of the founders of Terumo. 1921,as thermometer imports to Japan stopped due to war, Terumo was founded by a group of physicians and scientists, including Dr. Shibasaburo Kitasato, to meet the desperate need for production of quality thermometers in Japan. Since its establishment, Terumo has been pioneering the development of various medical devices in Japan, supporting the foundation of healthcare in the country. We have developed numerous ""first in Japan"" and ""world's first"" devices, expanding our contributions to healthcare from Japan to the world. We will continue to work together as one Terumo Group and strive to be a valuable company for patients, medical professionals, and society at large.
