Did you know the manufacturing of steel is responsible for roughly 5% of global CO2 emissions? At Linde, we’re proud to be supporting industrial decarbonization efforts on a global basis. Over the past year, we announced several key projects with steel customers around the world using the latest technologies to reduce carbon emissions. This includes a reduction in carbon emissions of up to 95% over traditional steelmaking at what will be the world’s first large-scale green steel plant. Follow us for the latest updates on how we’re leading the charge in transitioning to low- and zero-carbon energy in the steel industry and beyond. #Steel #Hydrogen #GreenHydrogen #EnergyTransition #Decarbonization

Thrilled with yesterday's news that Accelera by Cummins has been awarded $75 million to convert approximately 360,000 sq. ft. of existing manufacturing space at Cummins Inc. Columbus (Indiana) Engine Plant (CEP) for zero-emissions components and electric powertrain systems. The $75 million grant is the largest federal grant ever awarded solely to Cummins and is part of the funding from the Inflation Reduction Act. #electrify #battery #IRA

Green and blue hydrogen get all the attention. But how about turquois hydrogen made with methane pyrolysis? This may be an efficient process if it can be coupled with waste heat captured from other industrial sources. Also, the electricity should be renewable to be consistent with the intent. It is still early in commercialization so we should keep an eye on this technology as it develops. #ANDnotOR https://lnkd.in/eTZPQ3M5

Relive the excitement of the ACT Expo 2024 through our highlights video from Las Vegas! With a prominent presence at the event, Hyundai announced its hydrogen roadmap and showcased its clean logistics businesses spanning the hydrogen value chain in the U.S. Test drivers who experienced Hyundai XCIENT Fuel Cell truck firsthand remarked on its outstanding performance and seamless integration of hydrogen technology, reaffirming it as an industry-ready solution. This year's ACT Expo demonstrated that Hyundai is well on the way toward building a hydrogen society. Stay tuned for more updates on our hydrogen business and our leadership in the global energy transition! #Hyundai #ACTExpo #HTWO #XCIENTFuelCell #Hydrogen Hyundai Motor Group

14 Different Methods of Storing Hydrogen 🟦 1) High-pressure hydrogen gas You can store hydrogen as high-pressure gas at 350-700 bar. High pressure gas (GH₂) @ 700 bar: - "Gravimetric" energy density [MJ/kg]: 120-142 - "Volumetric" H₂ density [kg/m]): 39-42 🟦 2) Liquid hydrogen Liquid hydrogen cryogenic temperatures! T= 20.28 K [ −423.17 °F, "−252.87 °C"] Volumetric H2 density ≈ 70.8 kg/m3 🟦 3) Synthetic fuels (2n+1) H₂ + n CO → CnH (2n+2)+ n H₂O (Fischer-Tropsch process) If you want to use existing infrastructure, synthetic fuels could be the solution. 🟦 4) Compressed, liquid synthetic natural gas [SNG] Captured CO₂ + 4H₂→ CH₄ + 2H₂0 [Sabatier reaction] Compressed and also liquid SNG storage and delivery are in place. 🟦 5) Liquid Ammonia Ammonia (NH₃) is manufactured using the Haber-Bosch process. 2NH₃ ⇌ N₂+ 3H₂ Liquid ammonia hydrogen density: 107.7-120 kg/m3 Liquid ammonia gravimetric hydrogen content: 17.65 wt% 🟦 6. Methanol (CH₃OH) CH₃OH hydrogen density: 95.04-99 kg/m3 CH₃OH gravimetric hydrogen content: 12.1 wt% CH₃OH ⇌ CO + 2H₂; CO + H₂O → CO₂ + H₂. 🟦 7. Formic Acid [CH₂O₂], Isopropanol [C₃H₈O] They have high volumetric hydrogen density (about 53 kg/m3 for formic acid and 25.9 kg/m3 for isopropanol) and high gravimetric hydrogen content (4.3 and 3.3 wt% for formic acid and isopropanol). 🟦 8. Liquid organic hydrogen carriers [LOHCs]; LOHCs are low-cost and can be easily stored. Promising LOHCs: 1- DBT/ (PDBT) (C₂₁H₂₀/ С₂₁H₃₃) 2- MCH/ C7H₈/ C7H₁₄ 3- C₆H₆/ C6H₁₂ 4- C₁₀H₈/ C₁₀H₁₈ 5- C₁₄H₁₃N 🟦 9. Metal hydrides; When a chemical reaction occurs between metal atoms and hydrogen, it forms metal hydrides. 1 LiH₂ABH₃ 2 LiAlH₄ 3 NH₄BH₃ 4 Mg(AlH₄)₂ 5 LaNi₅H₆ 6 LiBH₄ 7 NaBH₃CN 8 NaBH₄ 9 CaH₂ 10 KAlH₄ 11 Mg(BH₄)₂ 12 NaAlH₄ 🟦 10) Carbon-based Porous storage Carbon-based porous hydrogen storage comprises carbon fibre 21, nanotubes, aerogel, templated, and activated carbon, which has the potential for commercialisation. 🟦 11) Metal-organic frameworks [MOFs] MOFs are organic-inorganic hybrid and crystalline porous materials whose structures, pore environments, and functions can be set for specific conditions of hydrogen storage. 🟦 12) Hydrilyte® Hydrilyte® is a "metal hydride dust" suspended in mineral oil. This safe and non-toxic substance facilitates and decreases the cost of hydrogen storage with no catalysts. 🟦 13) Vallourec’s Delphy hydrogen storage solution Vallourec’s Delphy system can store between 1 and 100 metric tons of H₂ using long-pressure vessels. These pipe strings are housed underground in excavated cavities between 5 and 10 meters in diameter and up to 100 meters deep. 🟦 14) Natural Hydrogen Naturally occurring hydrogen in geological formations is emerging as a potential game-changer for hydrogen storage.
