Pace is a leading international art gallery representing some of the most influential contemporary artists and estates.

About us

Pace is a leading international art gallery representing some of the most influential contemporary artists and estates from the past century, holding decades-long relationships with Alexander Calder, Jean Dubuffet, Barbara Hepworth, Agnes Martin, Louise Nevelson, and Mark Rothko. Pace enjoys a unique U.S. heritage spanning East and West coasts through its early support of artists central to the Abstract Expressionist and Light and Space movements. Since its founding by Arne Glimcher in 1960, Pace has developed a distinguished legacy as an artist-first gallery that mounts seminal historical and contemporary exhibitions. Under the current leadership of President and CEO Marc Glimcher, Pace continues to support its artists and share their visionary work with audiences worldwide by remaining at the forefront of innovation. Now in its seventh decade, the gallery advances its mission through a robust global program—comprising exhibitions, artist projects, public installations, institutional collaborations, performances, and interdisciplinary projects. Pace has a legacy in art bookmaking and has published over five hundred titles in close collaboration with artists, with a focus on original scholarship and on introducing new voices to the art historical canon. Today, Pace has nine locations worldwide including London, Geneva, a strong foothold in Palo Alto, and two galleries in New York—its headquarters at 540 West 25th Street, and an adjacent 8,000 sq. ft. exhibition space at 510 West 25th Street. Pace was one of the first international galleries to establish outposts in Asia, where it operates permanent gallery spaces in Hong Kong and Seoul, as well as an office and viewing room in Beijing. In 2020, Pace opened temporary exhibition spaces in East Hampton and Palm Beach, with continued programming on a seasonal basis. In fall 2021, Pace will continue to expand its European presence with the opening of a larger gallery space in London.

Welcoming Alejandro Piñeiro Bello to the gallery! Alejandro Piñeiro Bello (b. 1990, Havana, Cuba) paints the mystic splendor of Caribbean culture with a focus on the Caribbean diaspora, Cuba, and the surrounding island nations’ identities, and histories. Piñeiro Bello’s practice is deeply informed by the emotional and sensory experience of his life between Havana and Miami. Using traditional materials, such as oil on raw linen or burlap, he creates striking dialogues between the deep beige of the canvas and an iridescent palette of jade greens, oranges, purples, and teals. Drawing inspiration from dreams and memories, his paintings describe a fleeting, timeless feeling. This fall at #PaceLondon, we will stage the largest exhibition to date—and first in the UK—of works by Piñeiro Bello, from September 3 -28, 2024. Titled 'Entre El Día Y La Noche (Between Day and Night),' the show will feature new paintings, works on paper, and a sculpture. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gyb5fGDJ

At #PaceLondon, 'The Dance' introduces an international audience to Kiki Kogelnik's multi-faceted output, which drew on sci-fi, space exploration and consumer society. From The Art Newspaper: "The Austrian-born Pop artist Kiki Kogelnik has been something of a “secret” outside her native country until very recently, says the director of her New York-based foundation, Stephen Hepworth. But with the first solo exhibition of her work in London now open at Pace Gallery and a major touring survey on view at the Kunsthaus Zürich, she is unlikely to remain under the radar for much longer." Welcoming the estate of #JiroTakamatsu, a profoundly influential artist, theorist, and teacher in postwar Japan, to the gallery! Over the course of four decades, Takamatsu worked across painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, and performance. Takamatsu made immeasurable contributions to the international avant-garde of the 1960s and 1970s, and played a key role in the advent of Conceptual Art. From our networks: In his new Black Dada paintings, #AdamPendleton has expanded his vocabulary of colour, infusing his compositions with purples, reds, and other metallic tones. The rich washes of colour on the surfaces of these works, for Pendleton, “put my attention—and the viewer’s attention—on process, and how process merges with different formal possibilities.” Next week on 3 May, his first solo gallery exhibition in New York in ten years, 'An Abstraction,' will open at Pace Gallery's 540 West 25th Street location. The artist’s 12 paintings and 13 drawings will hang within a monumental, site-specific architecture consisting of five black triangular forms. These sculptural walls will reorder the gallery into new, unexpected spaces and extend the visual language of the exhibited works. Details: Adam Pendleton: An Abstraction 3 May-26 August 2024 An opening reception will be held Thursday, 2 May from 6-8pm. Learn more at https://bit.ly/3UBCNqC
