📊 Travel prices have declined for the second consecutive month, and at a steeper rate than the overall economy, according to yesterday’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) report. U.S. Travel's Travel Price Index (TPI) revealed that prices dropped 1.4% from the previous month, driven by lower hotel, airline and gas prices. The bottom line: Today's prices are more favorable for travelers. “Now is the time for the travel industry to boost volume,” said U.S. Travel CEO Geoff Freeman. “And it’s essential that the industry is equipped with the right funding, resources and technology—coupled with sustained government focus—to meet an increase in demand.”   More: https://lnkd.in/eK34x5TW

Hitting it out of the park for a good cause! 🥎 💕 This week, members of Congress and the D.C. press corps faced off on the field at the Congressional Women's Softball Game to raise funds and awareness for Young Survival Coalition, an organization supporting young women with breast cancer. We had a blast cheering on our own Tori Barnes, who coached #TeamCongress, and seeing hundreds sport our #TravelWorks hats. Congrats to Team #BadNewsBabes for taking home the win! 👏 #BeatCancer | #CWSG | #TravelWorks

Last week, U.S. Travel’s #TravelWorks Power Hour took center stage at the Whatcom Museum in Bellingham, Washington, with U.S. Representative Rick Larsen (WA-02) and local travel industry leaders. As Ranking Member on the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, Congressman Larsen has spearheaded policies that enable a more modern and globally competitive travel industry, including guiding the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024 across the finish line. The Power Hour dove into the industry’s most pressing policy priorities, notably the urgent need for an efficient visa processing system that can meet demand ahead of the FIFA World Cup in 2026—which will bring millions of visitors to Seattle and cities nationwide. Local industry leaders underscored travel’s essential role in the nation's economic competitiveness, which contributes over $22 billion in spending and supports nearly 130,000 jobs across Washington. Big thanks to State of Washington Tourism and Bellingham Whatcom County Tourism for their efforts to showcase travel's indispensable impact in Washington and nationwide.
