Westchester County continues to strive for excellence in using technology to deliver innovative governmental services. These efforts have been recognized by the Center for Digital Government (CDG), which awarded Westchester County third place nationwide in the 500,000 to 999,999 population category on its annual “Top 10 Digital Counties” list. The CDG said: “Westchester County climbed the ranks to third place in its population category this year thanks to the Department of Information Technology’s (DoIT) continued commitment to improving digital equity and exploring emerging technologies.” The County’s increased commitment to cybersecurity was also a significant factor, with cybersecurity ranked the #1 priority of U.S. counties according to this year’s survey. Westchester County Executive George Latimer said: “Under the leadership of CIO Marguerite Beirne, our Department of Information Technology continues to deliver exceptional results. This award highlights the collaborative efforts of DoIT with all County departments, helping each to achieve their missions more effectively. I commend our team for their dedication and look forward to future innovations that will continue to benefit the people we serve.” Read more here: https://ow.ly/Zpbi50SCCRc

Phoenix, a 4-year-old Lab mix assigned to the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services, recently achieved a prestigious designation as a certified First Responder Therapy Dog. Since being obtained in August 2022, Phoenix has been a resource to support the emotional health and wellness of all first responders in Westchester County. County Executive George Latimer congratulated Phoenix and his hander, Samantha Stretz-Fejes, on their most recent accomplishment. He said the decision to obtain a therapy dog was in recognition of stresses and emotional challenges that first responders face on the job. Latimer said: “Our firefighters, EMS personnel, police officers and dispatchers often see terrible things, or handle highly stressful incidents, in the course of their duties. In addition to providing them with the training and equipment they need, it is equally imperative that we support their physical and emotional health however we can.” Read more here: https://ow.ly/RGLc50SBSge

After 20 plus years with the “Westchestergov.com” logo, Westchester County is launching a rebranding initiative aimed at better capturing the County’s image, fostering pride and improving engagement with our residents and stakeholders. Westchester County Communications Director Catherine Cioffi said: “We are legally required to transition the County’s website from '.com' to '.gov.' This change will necessitate the retirement of the 'Westchestergov.com' logo, rendering it obsolete. This mandate provides an ideal opportunity for us to rebrand Westchester County Government. Through this rebranding, we aim to develop a new logo that effectively communicates our values, services and vision for the future." Rebranding involves a thorough review and update of how Westchester County presents itself to the public, including its visual identity, messaging and overall perception. The rebranding initiative is designed to be inclusive and participatory, ensuring that the voices of residents and stakeholders from all over the County are heard. All are encouraged to share their unique perspectives and insights to shaping the future of Westchester County. If you are interested in participating in our rebranding efforts, please click the link to fill out a brief survey: https://lnkd.in/et4AGw-n.
