  • Aircraft Out of Service (AOS) Duration Reduction

    Lead cross functional team that was focused on reducing AOS duration. AA LAX AOS duration was running longer than all large AA maintenance stations in the system. Brought the issue to the LAX team that included not only Tech Ops but Airports and vendors. The team leaders were asked to read a book called "4 Disciplines of Execution' and then apply the 4DX principles to the AOS duration issue. While it was painful process for use the team got through it and after four months the team cut AOS…

    Lead cross functional team that was focused on reducing AOS duration. AA LAX AOS duration was running longer than all large AA maintenance stations in the system. Brought the issue to the LAX team that included not only Tech Ops but Airports and vendors. The team leaders were asked to read a book called "4 Disciplines of Execution' and then apply the 4DX principles to the AOS duration issue. While it was painful process for use the team got through it and after four months the team cut AOS duration by 50%. This resulted in returning the aircraft back to the operation much sooner and getting our customers to the destination safe and on time.

  • Continuous Improvement - AMT Skills Improvement

    Project is to improve AMT skills in the Line Maintenance group to keep pace with the demands of higher technology aircraft such as the B777, B787, B737MAX, and A321NEO. Legacy AMTs will require training to enhance their knowledge and skills to keep American's fleet reliable and safe.

  • Aircraft Movement Transition - LAX

    Project Lead - Project was to transition the majority of aircraft moves from Tech Ops AMTs to Customer Operations. The project was started during the COVID pandemic which added many unusual challenges. After multiple starts and stops Customer Operations took on more 60 aircraft movements per day which then allowed Tech Ops to utilize our licensed AMTs to focus on improving the reliability of our fleet.   • American Airlines and US Airways Line Maintenance Staffing Project

    Developing and merging US Airways and legacy American Airlines line maintenance staffing processes to ensure a smooth transition to a single line operation. Project requirements include interpretation of two labor agreements with the near term goal of optimizing line maintenance staff resources once the new American Airlines achieves single operating certificate.

    Utilize data from multiple sources such as Maintenance Long Range Planning, Maintenance Programs, Netwrok Planning, Production, Training, and Finance to determine the appropriate Line Maintenance Technicians required to maintain the world's largest fleet of aircraft around the world. Process also inlcudes running two separate staffing models due to two union collective baragining agreements in place while forecasting the future staffing needs of a combined union work force in the future. Data is provided to all groups listed above as appropriate to their individual group needs.

  • Maintenance Routing System (MRS) - Replacement

    Develop new Aircraft Maintenance Routing System (MRS) to replace legacy American Airlines and legacy US Airways MRS. Working with internal and external resources to create new system specifications, test, and implement new MRS for world's largest airline.

  • 787 Entry Into Service

    Coordinating cross-functional team from within Tech Ops to determine the correct labor hours for maintenance tasks per Boeing MPD. Develop data base and parameters that will be used to schedule line maintenance tasks that will enable maximum utilization and reliability of the 787 in to the American Airlines system.

  • 767/777 Maintenance Program Harmonization

    Review all decisions on sourcing from the perspective of the TWU and ensure that all contractual caps are being followed. Also work to develop processes for sourcing that promote the providing American Airlines with the highest quality at the lowest cost in the industry.

    American Airlines

    Award for work on development and implementation of leaner and more flexible maintenance program on the B767 and B777 fleet types. The new program reduces aircraft down time and returns the equivalent of two aircraft back to the airline.
