I find reading different school districts' Local Control and Accountability Plans to be very interesting. I read them to gain a better understanding of the District's strategic plans and how they are allocating their dollars and how far they have progressed. This process gives me a better understanding as I prospect a school district. #abm #prospecting

Rachael Lehr and I spent time this evening articulating what the Specialist Learning Program (SLP) would and would not look like at Dayton Primary School. This included making very clear that staff working within the SLP would not be SLP staff, but rather members of the Dayton Staff.   One of the biggest threats to an organisation when it comes to culture is the existence of subcultures, especially when it comes to programs in schools, and there is the potential for a comparative dialogue to formulate. You need look no further than that of the 'us and them' mentality that exist in many schools globally when it comes to talking about the administration team and the teaching staff.   The establishment of a SLP at Dayton does not mean that there will be two languages of instruction, two sets of expectation, or two standards. It means that there will be one instructional language that runs across the teaching and learning community of Dayton but there will be additional supports to enable students who are accepted into the program to attain and work towards those expectations and standards. Staff will speak with one voice and structures and routines, as they are now, will be reinforced.   The biggest catalyst for the creation of an exclusive culture is the creation of a divisive language within the school.   Tonight, we invested time, once again, speaking to the notion of #ubuntu and the idea of the raindrops in the pond.   For the school to make a difference to the lives of children in the school we must speak with one voice, using one language that sees everyone as belonging to the teaching and learning community. Where all students are held accountable to standards and expectations of that community and are provided with the necessary supports to be able to become a contributing member to that community. Inclusion means everyone, not one group ahead of the other, no one group should be disadvantaged at the expense of the inclusion of another. When this occurs it is actually exclusive.   In continuing to build our school community and remain honest to our vison we will literally be building the plane while it is in the air.    Thank you to everyone who attended our prospective staff session this evening. Generative AI, Machine Learning, A Level 6 'Programmed Illusion' Spell (John you NERD!!!!). 2 of these concepts have the potential to make your enrollment life more effective, focused, and fruitful (when deployed correctly). 1 of them should have been deployed as an option in my recent run of Baldur's Gate 3, (but it wasn't and that's dang shame.) Here is a great 2-minute video blog from Val Fox, Principal in EAB's adult learner recruitment, with four major trends in marketing and recruitment for graduate and adult continuing education programs. First, graduate and adult education programs should be moved from the fringe to be integrated into the institution's operations. Second, moving beyond experimenting with AI to using it in marketing and recruitment. Third, the adult decision cycle is much longer, spanning years. We need to be BOTH consistently responsive AND build in long-term nurturing. Fourth, Gen Z will become the largest prospective adult segment, estimated at 60% by 2030.
