Sending your newsletter from a "noreply" email address is a strong signal that you do not care about your audience. I subscribe to a LOT of behavioral health, digital health, addiction treatment, and recovery support newsletters. An emerging trend: company updates, product announcements, and purely informational emails being delivered from "noreply" email addresses. My suspicion is that communications departments are departments of one and do not have time to respond. I also suspect they are being graded by vanity metrics: open and click rates. The other day I heard the beehiiv CEO explain the positives behind email newsletters. The biggest positive is that with email, readers have the ability to reply anytime and connect asynchronously with the sender. This open door to communication builds relationships. But, the more I pay attention, I'm noticing a closed-door policy made clear through the "noreply" address. This is such a missed opportunity to build connection and community with whomever is on the other side. There is nothing I like more than replies to our newsletters. Even the simple, "This is awesome, keep it up" messages are not a waste of anyone's time. They show you care what we're doing, and you care so much you took a few moments to let us know. Why close that door? #communications #patientexperience #buildingcommunity

I believe that telemedicine plays a crucial role in managing ADHD medication management, but it's essential to strike a balance. While telemedicine is vital for chronic conditions, the need for occasional in-person visits for controlled substances is undeniable. Regular physical exams and blood pressure monitoring are crucial for safe prescribing practices. However, Done was incentivizing doctors to avoid telemedicine visits and promoting automatic refills. Encouraging prescriptions solely for financial gain not only compromises patient care but also led to regulatory intervention by the DOJ. Finding the right balance between telemedicine convenience and in-person care is key to ensuring quality healthcare practices. #Telemedicine #ADHD #Healthcare #PatientCare #InnovativeXCare

Erin Brodwin and Axios have the news today about the Series A raise for social care platform, Grayce, led by Maveron with participation from BBG Ventures, Correlation Ventures, GingerBread Capital, Alumni Ventures, Visible Ventures , Gaingels, and What If Ventures. There is a staffing shortage crisis across the U.S. in childcare, eldercare, and healthcare. More employed Americans are being thrust into new roles as caregivers while juggling work and family responsibilities. The healthcare system, also facing crisis-level staff shortages, is increasingly relying on independent caregivers. According to Harvard Business School's The HBS Project on Managing the Future of Work, 73 percent of employees currently report some level of caregiving responsibilities. Grayce’s social care platform supports family caregivers in navigating caregiving complexities. Each member receives dedicated support from a social worker who helps manage their care needs —from identifying resources to coordinating care and planning around other responsibilities such as travel. The platform is personalized for each member and offers connections to a peer community and access to a marketplace of resources, and productivity tools. Rooted in a social work care model, Grayce is available in over 250 languages With this new capital, Grayce will scale its innovative platform to enhance its employer solution and member experience as well as enter the payer market. #caregivers #caregiving #digitalservices #Grayce

Here is an excerpt from Golden Gate Mothers Group ‘s most recent April/May magazine “Craze”, featuring a mention of Custom Fit! Sasha Fahimi writes, “I became curious and sought out [evidence based precision medicine] resources in San Francisco. When I met Evan Mather, founder of Custom Fit, a local gym that offers personal training and individualized nutrition coaching, I realized Jahan was not alone in his quest to improve his health by using data. Evan is a believer in DEXA and VO2 max testing, describing them as “two highly researched body composition and cardiorespiratory analysis tools that allow us to assess a client’s baseline, guide recommendations, and build the most personalized plan one can ask for.” DEXA is an incredibly precise measure of body composition, helping measure bone density, lean muscle mass, and body fat, including the proportion of visceral fat— the fat on the inside that you can’t see-which is especially harmful to internal organs and is associated with development of diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. While users of Ozempic will see a reduction in their visceral fat (likely driving much of the health benefits), doctors warn that a significant amount of the overall weight loss can come at the cost of lean muscle mass, an unintended consequence that can be tracked by DEXA and reversed with appropriate training and diet interventions. VO2 max, on the other hand, measures your cardiac and respiratory fitness. Evan describes it as assessing “how much oxygen (V = volume) you’re able to uptake under maximum effort, and as well as help determine your different heart rate zones for training.” While the idea of running full speed on an incline on a treadmill until I’m maxed out sounds terrible, it turns out your VO2 max actually may predict how long you live. “VO2 max declines gradually with age, and people with higher VO2 max have better heart and lung health and, on average, live longer and more independently,” my husband explained … When I went in for my own DEXA scan, I noticed that Custom Fit was much more than your average gym. Evan and his team offer nutrition consultation, bloodwork packages, cold plunge, infrared sauna, and the like…” Are you familiar with the benefits of VO2 Max testing and DEXA scanning?

Today, Mindbloom helped publish the largest peer-reviewed study of ketamine therapy (or any psychedelic medicine), with data from 11,441 clients. How big was it? Nearly 10x larger than the previous record-holder – which was Mindbloom’s last clinical study! The results were remarkable: 📊 Effectiveness: 62% of clients reported clinically-significant improvements in depression or anxiety, with 28% achieving remission, after only four sessions ❤️🩹 Safety: Fewer than 5% of clients reported side effects (SSRI side effect rates are 30-50%) ➡️ Benefits of Continued Treatment: 84% of clients who experienced significant improvements in an initial treatment program maintained improvements or recovered in a second round Since our launch in 2019, people have questioned whether ketamine therapy could be delivered safely and effectively at home through telehealth – this study answers that question with an emphatic “hell yes.” I'm deeply grateful to authors David Mathai, MD (Johns Hopkins) Thomas Derrick Hull, Matteo Malgaroli (New York University), Leonardo Vando, and to the Mindbloom team who helped make it happen Michael Petegorsky, Jack Swain, and Anna Gotskind.

Heading into #NationalInfertilityAwarenessWeek, our round-up is all about the clinics. The latest best list was unveiled, alongside some horrific stories of negligence. The TL:DR? The too-few fertility doctors in the U.S. (only ~1.300) are under strain. The good news is Conceive is here with the support. 📚 1/Newsweek released its 2nd annual list of 125 best U.S. fertility clinics, determined through a survey, CDC metrics, fertility accreditation data, and Google reviews. Weill Cornell took top spot (shout-out to our medical advisor there, Dr. Alexis Melnick!) https://lnkd.in/eBfEgvTA 2/Study shows correlation between high doses + prolonged duration of gonadotropins during IVF and increased embryonic mosaicism alongside diminished live birth rates, making docs reconsider dosage and duration protocols. 👀 https://lnkd.in/ecjXdpex 3/"PIEZO-ICSI", a new kind of ICSI, looks promising. 💦 https://lnkd.in/eQh7SNj5 4/A Nashville fertility clinic has shut down suddenly, citing financial difficulties and ghosting its patients, leaving their embryos and eggs in limbo. Our hearts break💔 https://lnkd.in/e5PFqmuR 5/In Newport Beach, CA, embryos were accidentally destroyed after they came in contact with hydrogen peroxide while an employee was cleaning. 😱 https://lnkd.in/eUFegTbc 6/Macron’s government is doing what it can to support more people getting access to IVF in a bid to curb declining birth rates. "It's not just individual bias--systemic problems exist in the healthcare system, leading us to not have enough time or support to provide adequate care to our patients." Well said by one of Togather's incredible founding members, Jess Romeo. Healthcare providers can want to do better. They can intend to do right by their patients. Desire to provide high-quality equitable care. But if they don't have the resources necessary they will fall short every time. Why? Because, despite tropes of "superheroes" and "frontline heroes" often used to push providers past what we would expect from other professions, they are human. Amazing humans yes, but still humans, in need and deserving of care, time to recharge, and the appropriate tools to do their job well. These tools include things like personal protective equipment that were way too sparse during the pandemic or adequate time to spend addressing patient needs. These are the tools that (sometimes) get talked about. But many other ones get pushed aside. 🧰 These tools include ↳ How to engage in self-care ↳ How to engage in collective care ↳ How to regulate your nervous system when activated in a patient visit ↳ Education on the histories of the patients you are serving and how that impacts their engagement in care ↳ How to advocate for a patient when you see them receiving suboptimal care ↳ What to do when you are asked to practice in a way that conflicts with your values ↳ How to negotiate for the pay, benefits, and working conditions you need to be able to provide quality care for the long haul So, so, many more. This is what I mean when I say we won't reach health justice without including the well-being and education of providers. This is one of the many "whys" behind Togather and I am so grateful to partner with incredible providers like Jess Romeo to forge new ways of providing inclusive care. A link to their post is in the comments. -- 🔔 Follow me as I build Togather, a platform dedicated to showing up for providers, so they can show up for themselves and their patients. #community #healthequity #buildinpublic #startups #healthcareonlinkedin #nursesonlinkedin

Rural Care is something we at Rainfall Health care deeply about and wanted to share some of my thoughts around challenges and opportunities in the space. Bridging the Gap: Rural Health Needs Technology Tools, Too In the sprawling landscapes of rural America, accessing quality healthcare can feel like traversing a vast expanse with few guiding lights. While much attention has been rightfully placed on addressing the shortage of healthcare providers in these regions, there’s another critical aspect that often goes overlooked: the need for tailored technology solutions. ⭐ The Rural Healthcare Dilemma: Provider Shortages and Critical Gaps ⭐ Moving Beyond Telehealth: Towards a Holistic Digital Provider Network ⭐ Integrating Digital Health Tools: Breaking Down Silos for Seamless Care ⭐ Benefits for Hospitals, Payors, and Patients alike! ⭐ Looking Ahead: The Promise of Technology Built for Rural Regions Beth Gall Kelly Binder Thanks for helping me consolidate my thoughts #ruralcare #digitalhealth #AI

The U.S. Surgeon General's recent advisory on the loneliness epidemic resonates deeply with me. I've witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of social isolation on seniors, particularly in care settings. This report is a powerful call to action for all of us in senior living. We must prioritize social connection and seek innovative solutions to combat loneliness. Technology can play a vital role in this effort, not by replacing human interaction but by enabling staff to focus on building meaningful relationships with residents. Together, we can create communities where every senior feels seen, heard, and valued. Red Light Therapy seems to be gaining traction in the wellness industry, and for reasons beyond improving skin health. Let's explore! ❤️ 🔺 What is RLT? 💡 Red light therapy, also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT) or photobiomodulation (PBM), is a non-invasive treatment that uses red or near-infrared light to stimulate cellular function. This therapy is based on the principle that certain wavelengths of light can penetrate the skin and be absorbed by cells, leading to various biological effects. 🔺 What are the benefits? 😌 Skin Health -Improves skin complexion, reduces wrinkles, increased collagen density. 🌱 Reduced Inflammation + Enhanced Microcirculation - Increases blood flow to the skin, leading to improved oxygenation and nutrient delivery to tissues. ❤️ Cardiovascular Health - Improves cardiac function and blood flow in the heart. Research published in the Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology in 2005 demonstrated the anti-inflammatory effects of red light therapy by reducing levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines and inhibiting inflammatory mediators. 🔍 Book Review Alert: Range - A Must-Read for Direct Primary Care Physicians! 🔍 The book "Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World" articulates compelling reasons why broad experiences and cross-domain knowledge are pivotal in today's world, It's a game-changer, and here's why it resonates with the world of DPC. In our intricately woven modern society, being a jack-of-all-trades is not an obsolete concept but rather a beacon of versatility. "Range" brilliantly illustrates that having broad experiences and knowledge across various domains isn't just valuable—it's essential. 🌟 🌟 Versatility Over Specialization – Being a generalist fosters adaptability and resilience, essential in navigating our unpredictable world. 💡 Connect & Innovate – Interdisciplinary insights spark creativity! Drawing from various fields can lead to groundbreaking innovations and solutions. 🧩 Problem-Solving Mastery – Tackle novel challenges with ease! Integrating diverse knowledge allows for more flexible and effective problem-solving strategies. For direct primary care physicians, this breadth is not just an advantage; it's a necessity: As DPC doctors, spending more time with patients isn't just about thorough consultations; it's about utilizing your vast repository of knowledge to offer enriched care—something that eclipses the capabilities of PCPs trapped in traditional insurance systems. Interleaving different areas of learning and constantly switching contexts enhances problem-solving skills dramatically. Think of your professional experience as a toolshed—the more diverse your tools (knowledge), the better equipped you are to tackle novel problems head-on. 🛠️ I advocate for a paradigm shift: primary care deserves greater appreciation. It's time our healthcare system recognizes and rewards the comprehensive skill set of primary care. Higher remuneration would not only validate their significance but also attract future medical innovators. To DPC physicians: commit to expanding your horizons. You should continuously enrich your ‘range’. By doing so, you will not only become irreplaceable—you'll also pioneer innovations that redefine patient care. Remember, in the grand tapestry of healthcare, those with an expansive breadth of knowledge are not just valuable—they are indispensable! #DirectPrimaryCare #BookReview #HealthcareInnovation #GeneralistsTriumph Bhavana Rao, MD Maryal Concepcion, MD FAAFP David Epstein

Costco's new partnership brings Ozempic to members. But at what cost? The program offers a $179/month plan But the medication itself can cost An additional $950-$1600/month. This move highlights the rapid mainstream adoption Of GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic. While Ozempic can lead to significant weight loss... It comes with risks: → Muscle loss → Potential for rapid weight regain → Questionable long-term sustainability As an industry… We have a duty to guide our clients to: → Emphasize the importance of lifestyle changes → Provide holistic, sustainable weight loss solutions → Teach a balanced approach to health and wellness The Ozempic craze may be tempting. But it's not a magic bullet. We have to lead the conversation of weight management. So let’s talk about it. #boutiquefitness #fitness #fitnessindustry #fitnesstrends #innovation #health #wellness Mohammed Iqbal Matthew Januszek

Optimized Telehealth Technology for Home care & Eldercare The past few years have seen a mushrooming of home care & elder care companies across the country – including in smaller towns and villages. Most of these companies are constantly facing issues in recruiting qualified caregivers and are looking at ways to service a higher number of patients with existing staff. They also appreciate the need to use digital healthcare technology solutions to achieve this goal and to enable them to deliver higher levels of care to their patients. However, they find that many of the available solutions are not easy to use by the current staff or are too expensive, or both. Over the past 3+ years, RHEMOS Health has studied & identified the many strategic & operational issues, pain points, and requirements faced by large and small home care & elder care companies across India. In response, the RHEMOS Health Station was introduced as India’s first complete Telehealth Solution that has the potential to be used by the smallest to the largest home care providers, by basic paramedics in Tier 3/4 cities and also by expert clinicians, in hospitals, in assisted living facilities and also in the comfort of patient’s homes. The RHEMOS Health Station has the potential to transform home care & eldercare delivery. It comes with a highly advanced, pocket-sized, affordable, and easy-to-use medical device that enables basic paramedics to rapidly check for 60+ vital parameters & bio-markers with hospital-grade accuracy in a patient’s home. It transmits all vital test results to a cloud-based Dashboard that displays multiple patients' vitals that can be remotely monitored by a Nurse station for adverse events and can trigger remote intervention for immediate treatment on demand. The RHEMOS Heath Station is a patient-centric home care & eldercare telemedicine solution that is portable, cloud-connected, pocket-sized, and uses remote monitoring technology, making it incredibly versatile and easy to use. RHEMOS is being used by over 125+ care providers in homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals, and even in remote villages, for screening & diagnostics, where it tests & monitors the vitals of 400,000 patients accurately and remotely every month, facilitates quick medical interventions and saves lives. Its low ownership cost and its ease-of-use capabilities enable even small-town care workers to use it successfully, ensuring that they can offer the highest levels of affordable care to their patients, when and where they need it.
